people were wearing them on every beach. Some
people say David Beckham is the best-dressed man
in Britain.
Davids wife, Victoria Beckham, is also a leader of

MILLIONAIRE?
One of the most popular quiz programmes
on television in Britain at the moment is
called Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The
quiz master is called Chris Tarrant. The
contestants have to answer fifteen
questions. The first questions are very easy
but later they are much more difficult. If
you can answer the fourteenth question,
you can win 500,000. You can win a
million pounds if you can answer the last question. Of course, the last question
is very difficult.
All the questions on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? are multiple-choice
questions. After you hear the question, you can see four answers. Only one answer
is correct. You have to choose the correct answer. If you dont know the answer to
a question, there are three ways you can get help. You can ask the quiz master to
take away two wrong answers. You can ask the studio audience what they think is
the correct answer. Or you can telephone a friend and ask for help.

John: Well, I have to wake up at
five oclock in the morning!
Thats tough! Then I go to

Lucia: What time do you usually finish your newspaper round?
John: Normally I finish at about eight-thirty and then I go straight to school. On
Sundays I finish later because Sunday newspapers are so heavy. But then I can

Craig
David:

to
Superstar

t the age of 18, Craig David became

the youngest British artist to have a

number one single. Fill Me In, his first
record, was followed by 7 Days, which became
a success in 20 different countries.
Craig David was born in Southampton, a
seaport on the south coast of England, on 5th
May, 1981. He grew up listening to the music
of Stevie Wonder, Terence Trent DArby and
Michael Jackson.
At the age of 14, Craig was making good
progress at school. He was also writing songs.
He started a part-time job playing records on
a local radio station. He also worked as a DJ
at local clubs.
A year later, in 1996, Craig won a national
song-writing competition with a song called
Im Ready. It was recorded by the R&B group
Damage and reached number 3 in the pop charts. A few months later he started to write
songs with his friend Mark Hill, who was also from Southampton. Together they wrote songs
in a mixture of Craigs R&B and hip-hop styles and Marks garage style. People heard Craigs
singing voice for the first time in 2000 on their first single Rewind.
People like Craig David for his music but they also admire the lyrics of his songs. One critic
said, His lyrics seem to be written by someone older than 19. They show the maturity of a
much older man.
