SUB - CONVERSION OF HOSTEL ROOMS INTO DORMITORIES IN THE
EXISTING HOSTEL BUILDING OF SURYA SAINIK SCHOOL AT
KHERANCHA
Respected Sir,
Introduction
1.
SURYA EKLAVYA SAINIK SCHOOL AT KHERANCHA, ARAVALLI
DISTRICT has been functioning since 2010. The Sainik School is located in the
Tribal Belt and is different from other Eklavya Model Residential Schools
(EMRS).
2.
The existing 2 hostel buildings of this School have 96 rooms and each
room can accommodate only two students. However, with induction of fresh
intake of 80 students to Class 6 from this academic session, three instead of
two students in each of the room have been accommodated. This has resulted
in reducing space for movement and creating problems both for the students as
also for the administration.
3.
However, all formalities as required for construction work for additional
accommodation at the School (Hostel, Mess, Academic Blocks and Sports
facilities) have been completed and the work is likely to commence soon. The
construction work may take approx two years for its completion and till that time
one more lot of 80 students to Class 6 will be inducted in next academic
session besides only 17 cadets of Class 12 will pass out. Hence, the liability for
arrangements of that 63 students will rest upon us within our available
resources.

Requirement
4.
The system of having two students in one room is required to be modified.
All 96 rooms need to be modified so as to convert this accommodation into 16
Dormitories, each being able to accommodate 18 students. This can be done
by dismantling the partition walls/removing the walls separating the rooms,
without affecting the stability of the structure as the walls are not load bearing.
Proposal
5.
It is proposed that all 96 rooms available for cadets in two hostels of
Surya Eklavya Sainik School, Kherancha be modified and converted into 16
Dormitories by dismantling the partition walls/removing the walls separating the
rooms, without affecting the stability of the structure of the hostel building:(a)

Demolition of partition walls includes:(i)

Gandhinagar as an additional grant.

Conclusion

7.
Having taken into consideration the various aspects of the commitment of
the only Gujarat State Sainik School, modification of 96 rooms into 16
Dormitories is inevitable at this juncture.
8.
In addition to the above, it is pertinent to mention that by staying into
dormitories, the cadets will be able to learn how to live in the group, as soldiers
live in their barracks and will also build a bond of friendship by developing the
sense of comradeship between them.
9.
Benefits which accrue to our Cadets while staying into Dormitories far
outweigh the cost that we incur on the said project work.
10. In view of the above, it is requested that an additional amount of Rs 16.60
Lakh may please be allotted to Surya Eklavya Sainik School at the earliest for
carrying out the above mentioned project.

With Regards,

Satender Sharma
