ENTRANCE TO THE DUSABLE MUSEUM TO BE TEMPORARILY RE-LOCATED JANUARY 19, 2016 TO FEBRUARY 5, 2016 Chicago, IL. (11 January 2016) --- In order to facilitate the installation of a new exhibition, The DuSable Masterworks Collection - Series I: Paintings, the Main Entrance of the DuSable Museum of African American History will be relocated from January 19, 2016 through February 5, 2016. During this period, visitors will enter the Museum through the Harold Washington Wing.and Admission will be FREE. The Museum is located at 740 East 56th Place (57th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue) in Chicago. Also, from January 19th through February 5th, the DuSable Museum Gift Shop will also be relocated to the Harold Washington Wing The DuSable Masterworks Collection- Series I: Paintings is a new exhibition which will highlight the works of some of the greatest and most prolific African American artists. Included will be paintings by Henry Ossawa Tanner, William A. Harper, William Edouard Scott and Archibald Motley, Jr., among others. This unique, diverse and beautiful collection of work is the first in a series which will allow visitors to engage with the DuSable Museums world-class Fine Arts Collection. The depth and breadth of these accomplished artists will provide the public and the City of Chicago with a thirst and desire to see more. The DuSable Museum of African American History is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 NOON until 5:00 PM. Normal admission is $10 for adults ($8 for Chicago residents), $7 for students and senior citizens ($5 for Chicago residents), $3 for children ages 6 through 11 ($2 for Chicago residents) and children 5 years of age and younger are admitted free. Sundays are FREE to all. The Museum may be reached by CTA buses #4, and #55 and limited free parking is also available on the premises.
