Jumaa Prayer

for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

West Africa Advanced School of Theology

January 22, 2016

Intercede for the Muslim World!

We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work (John 9:4).

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students, Alumni, and Missionaries

BURKINA FASO: Please pray concerning several events in this West African nation:
Last Friday night, jihadist attacks at a Ouagadougou hotel and a coffee shop left 30 dead and more than 30
wounded. Pray for (1) the families of the victims, several of whom were Christian workers, and (2) the owner of
the hotel, a faithful Assemblies of God member, in the aftermath of this tragedy.
A Christian doctor and his wife, an Australian couple who run a hospital in the north, were kidnapped and likely
taken to Mali. Please pray for their safety and release, and for God's conviction and mercy on the kidnappers
Pray for the Burkina Faso Assemblies of God General Council being held this week, and for God's wisdom on the
leadership as they address the challenge of reaching their Muslim neighbors.
GHANA: An alumnus who pastors a church in central Ghana, and his brother, an evangelist, recently began holding
evening services in a zongo (Muslim neighborhood). He reports that the first services attracted some agitations, but
the Lord saw us through. Many of them felt like the foundation of their faith was shaken and began to find out who
this Jesus really is. Two new believers have been integrated into a church, and others are deciding their direction.
Please pray for these at the point of decision, that the Holy Spirit would reveal His will clearly to them. Pray with this
pastor for strength, wisdom, and resources for these outreaches.
NIGER: An Assemblies of God pastor asks for prayer as he seeks to launch a program to feed and disciple the
Muslim children who come to the church, and for workers willing to join him in this effort. While freedom of religion
is largely respected in this Muslim-majority country, Boko Haram and other groups are increasingly threatening
churches and ministries. Please pray for our pastors and workers in Niger, that they may work effectively while it day!
SENEGAL: Pray for the opening on February 1 of a long-planned community center in Dakar. English courses will
be offered, and the directors hope to add health and women's classes as the center develops. Pray that many will be
attracted to the activities and see God's love in the lives of those serving them.

In the News
PRAISE GOD for the release of Pastor Saeed Abedini, finally freed from prison in Iran this past Saturday. He is
currently undergoing medical treatment in Germany. Continue to pray for this family as they adjust in the days ahead.

From Global Initiative*

Please pray for a church in Cairo, Egypt, as it ministers regularly to 600 Sudanese refugees; most are Christian by
background, but many are Muslims.

For Muslim Women**

Intercede for a group of deliberate, dynamic women in Paris who request prayer as they minister in refugee camps.
