Theories made over time to better understand the System and

International Relations , have been questioned about its effectiveness and
duration as the events were happening. These questions come from a great
diversity of what the author Martin Griffiths calls " Worldview" , which means " a
distinct set of ideas and arguments on IR" .
In the Worldview conception, a theory has prevailed on most critics
opinions, the political realism, because of its pragmatism and certain
imposition of power that falls back to its thought in the first instance (Griffiths).
However, even though realism is the first theory you think about when talking
about IR theories, the study object of International Relations along with the wide
worldview, makes that individuals or other actors go for some way to privilege
its self, missing consensus on ideas and ideal, so it can go for a mutual
incomprehension between individuals who has conflicting worldviews
(Griffiths).
The different worldviews influenced on what Dunne calls of theoretical
pluralism in the International Relations, which has been on the focus on in the
last debates, causing many theories other than the classical theories to emerge
(realism, idealism, liberalism and Marxism) by the end of the 20 th century with
great emphasis on the 21st century, as examples: constructivism, english
school, feminism, post-colonialism, critical theory and green politics.
To best understand about how we got to this varied worldview and the
pluralism, knowing at least a little bit about what the theory became and what it
stands for, since theres not a common sense between all of them. What Waltz
sees as a way to simplify something that occurred to understand, locate and
identify important facts of interest, Jabri says that it has been created to explain
the patterns that occurred in international events. But we are talking about a
something that is not concrete and it needs another theory to explain the
International Relations Theory.
With so many ideas about what comes to be a theory and its efficacy,
questions shows up as: does it really have an important role in the 21 st century?
With so many theories to understand in the International Relations, which ones
has taken important roles in the last years? With different worldview nowadays

and the questions about theories efficacy and its importance, would it be the
end of International Relations Theory?
Theory will always be there to try to explain something, therefor it doesnt
mean the end of the theories, it has an important role on the IR studies, and
about its real efficacy, there will always be questions because it cant predict all
the factors that contributes to the International System and in the International
Relaions.
As Dunne says that its important to agree with the pluralism and its
diversity on worldviews, because he believes that every though and theory is
able to contribute to understand, locate and identify certain events, ongoing, or
the conduct on IRs, even though it becomes an relativism conflict. Human
beings has its different way of thinking because of varied factors, therefor to
delimit or to impose theories to explain IRs, would mean to go back to the start
line where thinking freedom would be questioned and theories efficacy.
