Giving Update
The ministry of SHC is funded entirely by the
generous giving of Gods people. You will
notice that we do not pass the offering plate;
however, there are offering boxes in the back
of the auditorium. We believe from the Word
of God that the Spirit of God will lead people
towards giving back to God of their first fruits.
...God loves a cheerful giver, (2 Cor. 9:7).

Please prayerfully consider what the Lord

would have you do.

Our Purpose
Love God.
Love Others.
Reach The World.
We proclaim Him, admonishing every
man and teaching every man with all
wisdom, so that we may present every
man complete in Christ. For this
purpose also I labor, striving according
to His power, which mightily works
within me. Colossians 1:28-29

REJECTED?
Part 3
Luke 9:46-52

Presented by
Pastor Justin Greene
January 24, 2016

Going to the doctor is about my least favorite

thing to do. When I start feeling under the
weather, my tendency is to say, This is just a head
cold.
A couple of aspirin and Ill be fine.
Regardless of how Im really feeling, I convince
myself that Im not really sick; Im just reacting to
the change in the weather. If in fact I do have a
virus of some kind, treating it like a head cold or
the result of changing atmospheric conditions will
be worthless. I will continue to be sick until I get an
accurate diagnosis of my problem and then
follow the prescribed treatment.1

This week we will be taking a third look at rejection. The

first week we saw why Christ was rejected. In week two
we saw why half-hearted discipleship was rejected. This
week, we will look at what we need to reject in order to
succeed.

RECAP
Rejection came to Jesus because His focus was on the cross,
not the consumer.

Rejection came to three individuals because they didnt get

the urgency of the cross.

POSITIVE REJECTION
A Disciple Rejects Unbelief

Unbelief: Outright lack of faith in Christ.

Unbelief: A lack of trust in a trial.

A Disciple Rejects the Old Life

The old cravings will cost you (Rom 6:11-13).

The daily dirt will dupe you (Eph 4:17-24).

A Disciple Rejects the Unfruitful Life

Spiritual inactivity will cause you to feel useless,

unfruitful and will leave you questioning your
salvation (2 Pet 1:2-11).

Scripture never just tells us what to run from ... it tells

us what to run to!

FINAL QUESTIONS
1) Does unbelief plague you?

2) Is the old life dead to you, or just smoldering?

3) What are you running to in this season of life?

Questions from Week 1

What drives your activity?

What in your life has led to rejection?
Are you more dedicated to being right than to loving the
lost?

Questions from Week 2

When you

hear the call of Christ in this passage, do you

hear harsh words or urgent words?

In what way are these three responses timeless?

How are you responding to Christs call today?
