Motivation
A well functioning and efficient transport sector is a requirement
for economic and social development, bringing people together and
enabling the trade and exchange of goods and ideas.
Transport sector is responsible for a number of negative social and
environmental effects, including a significant contribution to
global greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.
The transport sector uses over a quarter of the worlds energy and
is responsible for a comparable share of global CO2 emissions from
fossil fuel combustion.
The global light duty vehicle fleet is expected to triple by 2050,
with most (around 90%) of the growth to take place in developing
and transitional countries.

Major mpg gains are because of unique hybrid features, such as regenerative
braking, electric-only propulsion, motor assist, and downsized engine. When
combined, they yield 30%-40% gain in mpg.
