 Hard Hobbing
Finish hob process for hardened gears.

Methods
There are two kinds of Hard Hobbing
processes that use carbide hobs One is
"Finish Hobb i ng" which fin ish hobs
hardened gears after the in it ial tooth
cutting. The other is "Solid Gear
Hobbing" wh ich directly hobs hardened
solid gear blanks.
Kashifuji has developed an Auto Part
Orientation Device utilizing a special non­
contact sensor that quickly and accurately
orientates gear teeth to the hob tool.

Features
The Hard Hobbing process is rep lacing
conventional gear grinding. Hard Hobbing
produces high quality and accurate tooth
forms in hardened gears at a low cost.
Hard Hobbing is becoming wide ly used in
not only gears with a tight radius whi ch are
difficult to finish grind, but also for large
module gears. Moreover. Hard Hobbing is
be i ng employed in the ge a r fin is h
production line where pre v io usl y. the
finishing processes were gear grinding
and / or honing .
