What is the etymology for vrIhI?

It appears that this is an Iranic derivation (va)rihi, ultimately coming near to the tamil arisi when the
h becomes s

Vari means tax/tribute in tamil, and ari or arisi means rice.

It appears that this is an Iranic derivation (va)rihi

Vrihi is not an Iranic derivation of so called (va)rihi. It is actually a Tamil derivation.

vil -> ; virai , n. [M. vira.] Seed, as of plants;

virai-k-kōṭṭai, n. Bundle of straw containing seed-grains of paddy;

¹- virai-teḷi-, v. 1. To sow seeds for raising seedlings;

2. To sprinkle a mixture of rice and cynodon grass.

Arisi and varihi or vrihi are of different origins.

Even Tamil Lexicon has merely compared Vari and Vrihi and never claimed vari as derived from Vrihi.
Honestly it has claimed that the Greek word oruza is derived from arisi.

The word arisi is rationally formuatled for its minuteness and smallness unlike paruppu, which
is named for its Thickness, largeness; 2273) and is like
Soft or inner kernel of beans, almond, etc.; and is
derived from , paru (Thickness, largeness;)

Compare , paru(Thickness, largeness) -> ( param) -> maram (big tree) and its opposite
of chil (small) -> chitti-> cheti /chedi , chettu, Shrub; plant, Shrubbery, bush
which is small in size unlike tree.

Therefore Vrihi or brizi are not desi words of Sanskrit and Old Persian languages. If it is so, etymology
of the same has to be proved beyond doubt or ambiguity. Old Persian has derived brizi from Vrihi of
Sanskrit which in turn has derived it from the Tamil word viriki only. There is no direction relationship
between arisi and Vrihi.
