Summary:
My project is to take the facility layout and to fine the overall equipment
efficiency of 6 machines in the facility. I did ma project in one of the reputed
pump manufactures of Coimbatore PSG pumps. I went to the facility and studied
the layout deeply. According to the study I drew the layout of the facility. Then it is
verified by going to the industry again and checking it with ma copy. The layout is
drawn in the MS word itself. Then I attached the layout in the Next page.
In order to measure the Overall Equipment Effectiveness of the 6 machines I
chose Slotting Machine, Universal Bench drilling Machine, Pressing Machine,
Horizontal Milling machine, Cylindrical Grinding Machine, Lathe. Then, I found
the working hours of the company by seeing the Production Schedule.
Then I went to each machine and took the Setup and adjustment time using
stop watch. Then Past history of downtime is noted. Then the capacity of the
machine is found out from the machine specification record. And the no of parts
produced is noted by getting information from the operator. Then the no of defects
and reworked are noted from the Inspection department. After collecting the data,
the calculation is done and is noted in Page no 4. Then the suggestion must be done
to the company according to the results of the OEE.

Formula for calculating OEE

OEE = Availability * Performance * Quality
Availability = operating time / loading time
Performance = total quality produced / capacity of the machine
Quality = no of good quality products / total no produced

Results and Discussion:

The results of the OEE of 6 machines are tabulated in the Table 2. According
to this data we can easily interpret the companys losses due to the downtime and
setup & adjustment losses. We can also interpret the performance losses (speed
loss). From OEE we cannot minimize the defects caused in the machine but we can
minimize the downtime and speed losses by implementing the TPM. BY
implementing TPM operators are trained and will be working in the maximum
efficient way. So the performance and availability is increased.

Conclusion:
Thus the PSG pumps are suggested to implement TPM. By
implementing the TPM in the Shop Floor the productivity is improved.
Then the employee morale in increased. Even though there are many
benefits implementation is difficult since it is fully implemented o low
level workers. This can be overcome by giving training to the worker.
