Introductory Rite

INTRODUCTION
Commentator: Good afternoon, brothers
and sisters in Christ, Anton and
Maika have invited us here
today
to
share
in
the
celebration of their marriage.
We come together not to mark
the start of a relationship, but
to recognize a bond that
already exists. This marriage is
one
expression
of
many
varieties of love and this is how
the couple will consummate
their love.
Let us then offer our thanks to
God for having led them
together in this love. Let us
pray that He may bless and
consecrate their commitment
to each other and that Anton
and Maika may freely and
lovingly take upon them the
task the Lord has entrusted to
them, to live for each other and
their children, their family,
their relatives and friends on
their road through life to God.

Let this day be memorable for

all of us, for the Lord have
given us the blessing in
witnessing this occasion
Please remain seated for the
processional.
THE BRIDAL MARCH
ENTRANCE HYMN (to be sung)
Celebrant:
In the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit.
All:

Amen.

GREETING
Celebrant:
The grace of our Lord
Jesus Christ and the love of
God and the communion of the
Holy Spirit be with you all.
All:
And with your spirit.
PENITENTIAL RITE
Celebrant:
Dear friends, we are
gathered
here
today
to
celebrate the banquet of life,

and the fount of love which

Christ has given in the
Eucharist and to witness the
beginning of a new life
together for Anton and Maika.
As we prepare ourselves to
celebrate the
mystery
of
Christs
love,
let
us
acknowledge our sins and ask
the Lord for pardon and
strength. (Pause)
All:

I confess to Almighty God, and

to you my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned, in
my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done, and in
what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my
fault,
through
my
most
grievous fault; therefore I ask
Blessed Mary, ever-Virgin, all
the Angels and Saints, and you,
my brothers and sisters, to
pray for me to the Lord, our
God.

Celebrant:
May Almighty God have
mercy on us, forgive us our
sins,
and
bring
us
to
everlasting life.

All:

Amen.

Celebrant:
All:

Lord, have mercy

Celebrant:
All:

Christ, have mercy

Christ, have mercy

Celebrant:
All:

Lord, have mercy

Lord, have mercy

Lord, have mercy

COLLECT
Celebrant:
Let us pray.
Be attentive to our prayers, O
Lord,
And in your kindness uphold
what you have established for
the increase of the human
race, so that the union you
have created may be kept safe
by your assistance.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Your Son, who lives and reigns
with you in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, forever
and ever.

All:

Amen.

Commentator: Please be seated for the

Liturgy of the Word.
Liturgy of the Word
FIRST READING
Commentator: Love has the noblest
place in Gods plan and in the
Old Testament the nuptial
union between a man and a
woman
is
its
greatest
expression.
Lector:

A reading from the Book of

Tobit (8:4b-8)

On their wedding night Tobiah arose from

bed and said to his wife, Sister, get up.
Let us pray and beg our Lord to have
mercy on us and to grant us
deliverance. Sarah got up, and they
started to pray and beg that deliverance
might be theirs. They began with these
words: Blessed are you, O God of our
fathers; praised be your name forever
and ever. Let the heavens and all your
creation

praise you forever. You made Adam and

you gave him his wife Eve to be his help
and
support;
and from these two the human race
descended. You said, It is not good for
the man to be alone; let us make him a
partner like himself. Now, Lord, you know
that I take this wife of mine not because
of lust, but for a noble purpose. Call down
your mercy on me and on her, and allow
us to live together to a happy old age.
They said together, Amen, amen.
The Word of the Lord.
All:

Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm (Ps. 1. 33:12 and

18, 20-21, 22)
Reader:

Let our response be:

The earth is full
goodness of the Lord.

of

the

The earth is full of

goodness of the Lord.

the

Kindly repeat.
All:

Reader:

Blessed the nation whose God

is the Lord, the people he has
chosen for his own inheritance.
But see, the eyes of the Lord
are upon those who fear him,
upon those who hope for his
kindness.

All:

The earth is full of

goodness of the Lord.

Reader:

Our soul is waiting for the Lord;

The Lord is our help and our
shield. In Him do our hearts
find joy. We trust in His holy
name.

All:

The earth is full of

goodness of the Lord.

Reader:

May your love be upon us, O

Lord, as we place all our hope
in you.

All:

The earth is full of

goodness of the Lord.

SECOND READING

the

the

the

Commentator: In his letter, St. Paul tells

us that to love is more
important than to perform
miracles or to do great things
for others. For without love all
that we do can become
meaningless.
Lector:

A reading from the Letter of

Saint Paul to the Ephesians
5:2a, 25-32

Brothers and sisters:

Live in love, as Christ loved us
and handed himself over for
us.
Husbands, love your wives,
even as Christ loved the
Church
and handed himself over for
her to sanctify her,
cleansing her by the bath of
water with the word,
that he might present to
himself the Church in
splendor,
without spot or wrinkle or any
such thing,
that she might be holy and
without blemish.

So also husbands should love

their wives as their own
bodies.
He who loves his wife loves
himself.
For no one hates his own flesh
but rather nourishes and
cherishes it,
even as Christ does the
Church,
because we are members of
his Body.
For this reason a man shall
leave his father and his
mother
and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one
flesh.
This is a great mystery,
but I speak in reference to
Christ and the Church.
The Word of the Lord.
All:

Thanks be to God.

Commentator: Please rise to honor the

Holy Gospel.
ALLELUIA (to be sung)

GOSPEL
Celebrant:
All:

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Celebrant:
A reading from the Holy
Gospel according to Matthew
5:1-12a
When Jesus saw the crowds, he
went up the mountain,
and after he had sat down, his
disciples came to him.
He began to teach them,
saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the Kingdom of
heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger
and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called children

of God.
Blessed are they who are
persecuted for the sake of
righteousness,
for theirs is the Kingdom of
heaven.
Blessed are you when they
insult you and persecute you
and utter every kind of evil
against you falsely because of
me.
Rejoice and be glad,
for your reward will be great in
heaven.
The Gospel of the Lord.
All:

Glory to you, O Lord.

Celebrant:

Jesus said to his disciples:

This is my commandment:
love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than
this, to lay down ones life for
ones friends. You are my
friends if you do what I
command you. I no longer call
you slaves, because a slave
does not know what his master
is doing I have called you

friends, because I have told

you everything I have heard
from my Father. It was not you
who chose me, but I chose you
and appointed you to go and
bear fruit that will remain, so
that whatever you ask the
Father in My Name He may
give you. This I command you:
love one another.
Celebrant:
All:

The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise to you, Lord Jesus

Christ.

Commentator: Please be seated for the

homily.
Rite of Marriage
Commentator: We have now come to the
Rite of Marriage. Please remain
seated.
LIGHTING OF CANDLES
Commentator: May we request the
candle sponsors to come
forward and light the candles.

These two candles represent

the bride and the groom and
their commitment to Christ in
the sacrament of Baptism. The
flame is the symbol of Christ
who is the light of the world. In
lighting these candles, we pray
that the love of Christ may
radiate around Anton and
Maika.
As we begin the marriage rites,
may we request the parents
and principal sponsors to stand
and act as witnesses of this
holy event.
Celebrant:
Anton and Maika, you
have come together in this
church so that the Lord may
seal and strengthen your love
in the presence of the Churchs
minister and this community.
Christ abundantly blesses this
love.
He
has
already
consecrated you in baptism
and confirmation and now he
enriches and strengthens you
by a special sacrament so that
you may assume the duties of
marriage in mutual love and

lasting fidelity. And so in the

presence of the Church, I ask
you now to declare before God
and the whole Church that you
have come here freely to take
on the responsibilities which
you commit yourselves today.
Celebrant:
Anton and Maika, may I
now ask you to answer
truthfully
the
following
questions.
Maika, did you come here of
your own free will to bind
yourself forever in the love and
service of your husband?
Maika:

Yes, Father.

Celebrant:
Anton, did you come here
of your own free will to bind
yourself forever in the love and
service of your wife?
Anton:
Yes, Father.
Celebrant:
Are you both ready to
raise as good Christian the
children whom God will give
you?

Anton & Maika:Yes, Father.

EXCHANGE OF CONSENT:
Celebrant:
Anton and Maika, since
you wish to contract Holy
Matrimony, please join your
right hands and express your
intention before God and His
Church.
(Anton and Maika hold each
others right hand.)
Celebrant:
Maika, do you take Anton
here present, for your lawful
husband according to the rite
of our holy Mother the Church?
Maika:

Yes I do

Celebrant:
Do you give yourself to
him as his wife?
Maika:

Yes I do

Celebrant:
Do you accept him as
your lawful husband?
Maika:

Yes I do

Celebrant:
Anton, do you take Maika
here present, for your lawful
wife according to the rite of our
holy Mother the church?
Anton:

Celebrant:
Do you give yourself to
her as her husband?
Anton:

Yes I do

Celebrant:
Do you accept her as your
lawful wife?
Anton:

Yes I do

Celebrant:
Anton and Maika, pray
now that our Lord may bless
and bind you in marriage.
Anton & Maika:Grant us O Lord, to be one
heart and one soul, from this
day onward, to have and to
hold, to honor and to treasure,
for better and for worse, for
richer and for poorer, in
sickness and in health, until
death do us part. We place our
lives and ourselves together in
Your loving hands.

CONFIRMATION OF THE MARRIAGE

BOND
Celebrant:
Anton and Maika, you
have declared your intentions
and promises to live out your
marriage covenant all days of
your lives.
And I, by the authority of the
Church, calling on all those
present here as witnesses,
confirm and bless the bond
which you have contracted, in
the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All:
Amen.
BLESSING AND EXCHANGE OF RINGS
AND ARRHAE
Commentator: We will now have the
blessing and exchange of rings
and arrhae. May we request
the rings and arrhae bearers to
come forward?
Celebrant:
Anton and Maika, we shall
now bless your arrhae and

rings. Our help is in the name

of the Lord
All

He made heaven and earth.

Celebrant:
Let us pray. Bless O Lord
your servants, Anton and
Maika, with sufficiency of
material possessions which
these arrhae symbolize so that
they may use them to attain
eternal life, through Christ our
Lord.
All:

Amen.

Celebrant:
Bless, O Lord, these rings
so that your servants, Anton
and Maika, who will wear them
may forever live in mutual love
and in unbroken loyalty. We ask
this through Christ our Lord.
All:
Amen.
EXCHANGE OF RINGS AND GIVING OF
THE ARRHAE
Celebrant:
Now, Anton and Maika,
give these rings to each other.

(The Groom takes Brides ring

and puts it on her right ring
finger, saying...)
Anton:

Maika, wear this ring as

of my love and loyalty,
name of the Father and
Son and of the Holy
Amen.

a sign
in the
of the
Spirit.

(The bride takes grooms ring

and puts it on his right ring
finger, saying...)
Maika:

Anton, wear this ring as

of my love and loyalty,
name of the Father and
Son and of the Holy
Amen.

a sign
in the
of the
Spirit.

Celebrant:
Hold these arrhae in your
hands as a sign that your
blessings will no longer be held
separately
but
together.
Remember that whatever gifts
you have in this life are not
yours but Gods gift to you. As
Gods stewards use them
wisely
and
share
them
generously.

(The groom, with the arrhae in

his cupped hands, gives it to
her bride, saying...)
Anton:

Maika, I give you these arrhae

as a pledge of my dedication to
your welfare and to our
children. In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit.

Maika:

Anton, I accept these arrhae as

a symbol of our shared joy and
responsibility of building a true
Christian family. In the name
of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.

Anton and Maika, this white
veil reminds you of the white
garment with which you were
clothed in Baptism. Now, it
stands as the symbol of your
submission to the Lord. Let it
therefore,
be
a
constant
reminder that you belong
entirely to the Lord and to each
other and to no one else.
May we request cord sponsors
to come forward and lay the
cord.
Commentator: Anton and Maika, the cord
is a symbol of Gods binding
love. Through the years, may
your love grow stronger and
bind you closer to the Lord and
to each other.

Celebrant:
Blessed are you, Lord God
of all creation.

for us the bread of life.

good of all his holy Church.
PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS
Celebrant:

the offering made on the
occasion of this sealing of the
sacred bond of Marriage, and,
just as your goodness is its
origin, may your providence
guide its course.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
Celebrant:

The Lord be with you.

All:
And with your spirit.
Celebrant:
Lift up your hearts.
All:
We lift them up to the Lord.
Celebrant:
Let us give thanks to the
Lord our God.
All:

It is right and just.

Celebrant:
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,

always and everywhere to give

you thanks, Lord, Holy Father,
almighty and eternal God
For you have forged the
covenant of marriage as a
sweet yoke of harmony and an
unbreakable bond of peace, so
that chaste and fruitful love of
holy Matrimony may serve to
increase the children you adopt
as your own.
By your providence and grace,
O Lord,
You accomplish the wonder of
this two fold design: that, while
the birth of children brings
beauty to the world, their
rebirth
in
Baptism
gives
increase to the Church, through
Christ our Lord.

All:

Through him, with the Angels

and all the Saints, we sing the
hymn of your praise, as without
end we acclaim:

your glory

standing

Celebrant:
You are indeed Holy, O
Lord, the fount of all holiness.
Make holy, therefore, these
gifts, we pray, by sending
down your Spirit upon them
like the dewfall, so that they
may become for us the Body
and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus
Christ.
At the time he was betrayed
and entered willingly into his
Passion, he took bread and,
giving thanks, broke it, and
gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU,
AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS
MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP
FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper

was ended, he took the chalice
and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples,
saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU,
AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR
THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY
BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE
NEW
AND
ETERNAL
COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE
POURED OUT FOR YOU AND
FOR
MANY
FOR
THE
FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

The mystery of faith.

We proclaim your Death, O

Lord, and profess your
Resurrection until you come
again.

Celebrant:
Therefore,
as
we
celebrate the memorial of his
Death and Resurrection, we
offer you, Lord, the Bread of
life
and
the
Chalice
of
salvation, giving thanks that
you have held us worthy to be

in your presence and minister

to you.
Humbly
we
pray
that,
partaking of the Body and
Blood of Christ, we may be
gathered into one by the Holy
Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church,
spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of
charity, together with Francis
our Pope and Ramon, our
Bishop and all the clergy. Be
mindful also, Lord, of Anton
and Maika, whom you have
brought to their wedding, so
that by your grace they may
abide in mutual love and in
peace.
Remember also our brothers
and sisters who have fallen
asleep in the hope of the
resurrection, and all who have
died in your mercy: welcome
them into the light of your
face. Have mercy on us all, we
pray, that with the Blessed
Virgin Mary, Mother of God,

with the blessed Apostles, and

all the Saints who have pleased
you throughout the ages, we
may merit to be coheirs to
eternal life, and may praise
and glorify you through your
Son, Jesus Christ.
Through Him, and with Him,
and in Him, O God almighty
Father, in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, all glory and honor is
yours, forever and ever.
All:

Amen.
COMMUNION RITE

Celebrant:
At the Saviors command
and formed by divine teaching,
we dare to say:
THE LORDS PRAYER (to be sung)
Nuptial Blessing
Celebrant:
Dear brothers and sisters,
let us humbly pray to the Lord
that on these his servants, now
married in Christ, he may
mercifully pour out the blessing

of his grace and make of one

heart
in
love
(by
the
Sacrament of Christ's Body and
Blood) those he has joined by a
holy covenant.
(And all pray in silence for a while. Then
the Priest, with hands extended
over the bride and bridegroom,
continues;)
O God, who by your mighty
power created all things out of
nothing, and, when you had set
in place the beginnings of the
universe, formed man and
woman in your own image,
making
the
woman
an
inseparable helpmate to the
man, that they might no longer
be two, but one flesh, and
taught that what you were
pleased to make one must
never be divided.
O God, who consecrated the
bond of Marriage by so great
mystery that in the wedding
covenant you foreshadowed
the Sacrament of Christ and his
Church; O God, by whom

woman is joined to man and

the companionship they had in
the beginning is endowed with
the one blessing not forfeited
by original sin nor washed
away by the flood. Look now
with favor on these your
servants, joined together in
Marriage, Who ask to be
strengthened by your blessing.
Send down on them the grace
of the Holy Spirit and pour your
love into their heart, that they
may remain faithful in the
Marriage covenant.
May the grace of love and
peace abide in your daughter
Maika and let her always follow
the example of those holy
women whose praises are sung
in the Scriptures. May her
husband entrust his heart to
her, so that, acknowledging her
as his equal and his joint heir
to the life of grace, he may
show her due honor and
cherish her always with the
love that Christ has for his
Church. And now, Lord, we
implore
you:
may
these

servants hold fast to the faith

and
keep
your
commandments; made one in
the flesh, may they be
blameless in all they do; and
with the strength that comes
from the Gospel, may they
bear true witness to Christ
before all; (may they be
blessed with children, and
prove
themselves
virtuous
parents, who live to see their
children's children).
And grant that, reaching at last
together the fullness of years
for which they hope, they may
come to the life of the blessed
in the Kingdom of heaven.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
All:
Amen.
