On Plagiarism
1. In your own words, define plagiarism.
Plagiarism is taking someone elses work or ideas and using them as your own, without giving
credit to the original author/artist/person.
2. In your own words, explain the difference between summary, paraphrase, and quotation.
A summary is when you write a brief synopsis of a composition in your own words, detailing
only the main ideas and major points. A paraphrase is when you restate someone elses ideas or
work in your own words. Finally, a quotation is when you directly quote the words used by the
author/artist/person, without paraphrasing.
