Interactive Developer

As an Associate in Interactive Development, you will play a key role in delivering stable, enterprise-level software to our clients. You
will be an individual contributor who works under the guidance and mentorship of a senior team member to convert rich interactive
designs to web applications that conform to our standards and best practices.

The Interactive Developer role reflects our vision for a new model of framing client issues and engaging around the definition of
valid and value add solutions:
Engage in consulting engagements that focus on working directly with clients and end-users to clearly define and
validate the client problem and articulate the broader context in which a solution needs to be designed, developed and
adopted
Growth opportunities with a focus on developing skills as a Front End Development practitioner
Opportunity to join our existing design studios and work across a range of new and existing client accounts
Organize and support client workshops and meetings
Project team support including events and collaboration activities
Unique opportunity to travel to India for a 2 to 3 month training and orientation program accompanied with other
campus hires across North America and Europe

What we are looking for:

At least a 3.25 GPA (or equivalent) Bachelors degree in a subject such as New Media, Interactive Development,
Computer Science or other related discipline preferred
Exposure to framing problems and designing and sketching conceptual design as well as crafting detailed design
solutions
Experience in architecting and developing designs and applications in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript or other front end
scripting languages
Sound knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web performance and accessibility, as well as an understanding of software
architecture
Project work experience in a team-based environment a plus
Self-starter, flexible and adaptable to change, goal and solution oriented
Customer focused and excellent client-facing capabilities with strong written and verbal communication skills
Openness to travel and work on client site
Available to start full-time in January 2014 or July 2014
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and/or Canada

Expected Competencies in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Architecture include:
HTML

Understands and hand-codes modern semantic HTML markup


Applies knowledge of semantic markup in decisions such as which tags to use where, for
what, and why
Builds documents which encompass SEO and Accessibility basics
Validates HTML with the W3C validator

Applies basic CSS concepts around styling text, links, images, background colors, and
general formatting.
Creates basic layouts from scratch
Able to articulate the difference between inline, in-document and external style sheets and
how they cascade.
Creates table-less layouts using positioning and floats
Validates CSS with the W3C validator

Uses basic JavaScript objects, strings and variables to create simple functions.
Understands OOJS concepts.
Can work on a JavaScript library or framework (e.g. jQuery, Backbone, Closure, ExtJS)
already implemented in a project
Can (help) create basic functionalities such as accordions, carousels and simple DOM
manipulation through original code and/or ready-made plugins
Can follow a pattern to make AJAX calls to a RESTful API
Validates JS with JSHint/JSLint
Uses feature detection instead of user agent sniffing to test for available functionality

Understands the basics of OO design like encapsulation, abstraction, polymorphism
Understands the basics of commonly used data structures
Can produce a logical object entity model for a given problem statement.
