SCENARIO: SAVING RYANS PRIVATES

This scenario represents a soldier breaking through the enemy line to deliver very important cargo to
headquarters.
Private Ryan has just married a local French mademoiselle. After finishing his vows and celebrating
outside the church with his platoon, the alarm goes out that Jerry has been spotted. The Germans are
crashing the party. It is up to Private Ryan to save his newly wed from the dastardly Germans.

SAVING RYANS PRIVATES

You must get your Tank and your Girl through the enemy lines and off the board.

FORCES
This scenario pitches armies of equal value against each other. Additionally the defender has a free
vehicle of armour value 8 or less. This is the vehicle that Private Ryan and his wife are in and don t
count towards the total points or vehicle selection.

SET UP & TURN LENGTH

The game is played along the length of a 6x4ft table. There is no turn limit.
Terrain: In the middle of the table is a church, the rest of the table should have a selection of Line of
Sight blocking terrain, linear obstacles or woods. Try to avoid too many open areas. If a road is
included it should not be possible to travel directly from the church to the short end of the table.
Deployment: The Defender sets up the wedding vehicle within 3 inches of the church. All other units
in the army must be deployed within a 12 inch corridor down the centre line of the board. Any units
may set up hidden.
The attacker must split their army into 2 equal forces, one will enter from the left table edge, one
from the right. Each force can have any of the units assigned as a first wave or in reserve. This must
be decided before the first dice is drawn from the cup.

OBJECTIVE
The Defender wins if they get the bride and groom off one of the short table edges. (see special rules
below if vehicle is disabled)
The Attacker wins if the wedding vehicle is destroyed with the wedding couple inside or the couple
are subsequently killed. (see special rules below)

VICTORY
If the Bride and Groom make it off the table it is a defender win. If only the bride makes it off the
table it is a draw. If the bride is killed then it is an attacker win.

SPECIAL RULES
If the wedding vehicle is disabled but not destroyed the bride and groom may abandon the vehicle on
foot. Use the rules for units escaping a destroyed transport vehicle. (ie. they will have a Down order
die assigned to them).
The vehicle is then counted as destroyed. The bride and groom form a unit of 2, the groom has a rifle,
the bride is unarmed. They may be issued orders as usual and may mount transports.
