Most monitor problems are caused by poor cable connections or bad
contrast/brightness adjustments. Check these areas first. Verify that
wall outlets works by plugging in a lamp or radio. Secure the monitor
power cords and turn the computer on.

R Check contrast and brightness adjustments.


R Check the monitor cable and make sure it is connected securely to the correct
port on the computer.
R Check CMOS settings by booting into Safe Mode. Booting into Safe Mode allows
the operating system to select a generic display driver and low resolution. If this
works, change the driver and resolution.
R If this doesn¶t work, open the computer and reseat the video card. It may have
come loose. Before reseating the video card, clean the card¶s edge connectors
with a contact cleaner or a white eraser. Don¶t let the eraser crumbs fall into the
slot!

R Secure and tighten the cable connections.


R Check for objects in the area that is causing a high amount of electrical noise.
Remove them.
R Check the monitor settings and set it to the highest refresh rate available.
