Advanced Underground Design module is a complete, automated

mine design system that maximises the overall economic benefit
of the ore reserve. It delivers improvements in the planning process
by freeing mine planners from time consuming and tedious tasks,
creating auditable designs.

Design Automation

Auditability of all designs assists in compliance

management.

The Advanced Underground Design module offers mine

planning engineers more control with its staged design
process. With the module, design parameters are turned
into a live mine design in Surpac that can be constructed
as Surpac data types, as complete or partial designs.
Additionally, the modules design environment and processes
free mine planners from mundane tasks, allowing more time
to be spent optimising designs and testing alternatives.

Automated, repeatable design procedures reduces time

required to complete designs.
Fully-integrated within the GEOVIA Surpac environment
and with GEOVIA MineSched underground scheduling.

Auditability and Repeatability

Link Designs and Schedules

All mine designs in the Advanced Underground Design

module are created by following a logical, easy to use
and visual design process that utilises a flowchart-driven
approach. System users define the parameters for each
element of the design, which are then saved in a secure
database. This ensures that designs are both auditable
and repeatable.

The Advanced Underground Design module is integrated

within Surpac and MineSched. This enables users to
link designs and schedules while applying MineSched
parameters such as densities, profiles and priorities. In
addition, designs can be scheduled directly in MineSched,
incorporating MineSched auto-precedence logic.

Reporting and Analysis

The Advanced Underground Design module enables mine
designs to be compared by applying modifying factor
formulas from MineSched schedules. It also permits the
analysis process to be audited as the parameters for data
extraction can be stored and reviewed. Using this capability,
best practice templates for mines and mine sections can
be developed.

Wide Applicability
Underground Design can be used in design development on
any underground mine layout, including:
Narrow reef/seam conventional mining.
Narrow reef/seam mechanised mining.
Conventional long hole open stoping.
Mechanised retreat long hole open stoping.
Cut and fill operations.
Sub level caving.
Block caving.
