Geospatial Technologies Framework

May 13, 2015

Context
Rapid Urbanisation; Expected 3x increase in urban population need to
expand urban infrastructure
A well thought through ICT strategy integral to development of Smart
Cities; should synergise existing investments in technology infrastructure.
Government 100 Smart Cities Mission has created the roadmap and
allocated initial funding. Detailed guidelines are expected, shortly.
NASSCOM was invited by Ministry of Urban Development to lead
discussions with industry on possible ICT interventions
Two consultation sessions with industry
Participation in State Consultation Workshops
NASSCOM requested to develop the ICT architecture framework, GIS
architecture framework and the Safe City architecture framework for the 100
Smart Cities Mission.

NASSCOM has partnered with

Accenture for developing the ICT architecture framework and
integrated report
Association for Geospatial Industries for developing the GIS
architecture framework
Orkash for developing the Safe City architecture framework.
Architecture frameworks developed in consultation
Industry experts
Stakeholders within government
Subject matter experts

What the report covers

performance of citizen
services across areas like
Energy, Water, Waste,
Mobility etc. to ensure
more effective
governance and delivery
of services

Measures the economic

state of city to track and
monitor aspects like

state of our environment
and what are the areas the
city needs to focus on for
improvements

Way Forward

- Outreach Program
- Work with stake holders across regions to increase
awareness on the role of ICT in Smart Cities
- Evangelise ICT framework at sub-domain level
- To work with industry to bring in wealth of innovation
and ICT capabilities that exist including leveraging
disruptive technologies
