21. The ratio between the present ages of Ram, Rohan and Raj is 3:
4:5. If the average of their present ages is 28 year, what would
be the sum of the ages of Ram
and Rohan together after 5 years?
a) 45 years b) 55 years
c) 52 years d) 59 years
e) None of these
Ans: d
Sol: Let ages of Ram, Rohan and Raj
be 3x, 4x and 5x, respectively.
According to the question,
3x + 4x + 5x = 328
12x = 84 years
x = 7 years
Hence, the sum of ages of Ram
and Rohan after 5 years
= 3x + 4x + 5 + 5
= 7 7 + 10 = 59 years
22. Raman scored 456 marks in an
exam and Seeta got 54% marks
in the same exam, which is 24
marks less than Raman. If the
minimum passing marks in the
exam is 34%, how much more
marks did Raman score than the
minimum passing marks?
a) 184
b) 196
c) 190
d) 180
e) None of these
Ans: a
Sol: Marks of Seeta = 54% of total
marks = 456 - 24
54% of total marks = 432
34% of total marks
=

432
34 = 272
54

Minimum passing marks = 272

Hence, Raman scored = 456-272
= 184 marks more.
Raman score 184 marks more than the minimum passing marks.
23. The cost of five chairs and three
tables is Rs. 3110. Cost of one
chair is Rs. 210 less than cost of
one table. What is the cost of two
tables and two chairs?
a) Rs. 1660
b) Rs. 1860
c) Rs. 2600
d) Cannot be determined
e) None of these
Ans: a
Sol:
According to the question,
5C + 3T = 3110
1T - 1C = 210
Solving both the equations,
we get
8T = 3110 + 1050
8T = 4160
1T = 520
And 1C = 520 - 210 = 310
Cost of 2 Tables and 2 Chairs =
2 520 + 2 310
= 1040 + 620 = Rs. 1660.
