CORRECTED IN RELEASE:

The fix for this issue Defect 252959 will be included in DCFM v10.1.4 release, expected to be
generally available June 19th, 2009.

BULLETIN OVERVIEW

Customers running Data Center Fabric Manager (DCFM) versions 10.0.1, 10.0.2, 10.0.3, 10.1.0,
10.1.1, 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 may experience a slower response times as time goes on. This problem occurs
due to the increase in the number of performance records in the database when the historical
performance data collection is turned on.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
DCFM database size will increase at the rate of 500MB for every 1000 managed ports every 2 days if
the historical data collection is turned on and could potentially cause the disk to run out of space.
RISK ASSESSMENT
Hard disk runs out of space and the DCFM will become slow and sluggish. Any applications that
depend on free disk space may eventually fail and the system could become unstable.

SYMPTO MS
DCFM will become slow and sluggish over a period of time when historical data collection is enabled
and hard disk runs out of free disk space.

WORKAROUND
Disable historical data collection, this will mean that historical performance graphs or link utilization
display in the client will not work. (Go to Monitor -> Performance -> Historical Data Collection and
select Disable all.)
Alternately, the customer can run a script periodically (once a week) to truncate the database.
Caution: All the historical performance records will be lost during the script execution process. The
script and readme with instructions is included in a zip file named dbrebuild.zip is available via:
