Company History
Who is Dynamic Flow Computers ?
Dynamic Flow Computers was founded in 1993 by our
President Sami Halilah.
Begun as a liquids Flow Computer company that as the
industry has evolved changed with it to include a vapor (gas)
flow computer line.
Enjoyed the distinction of being the first flow computer
manufacturer to produce a Field Mounted, hazardous
location class1 division 1 & 2 approved Liquid flow computer.
Brought to the market the 1st precision machined investment

Smartcone
The Intelligent Alternative to Orifice Metering

What is the Smartcone?

- The Smartcone is a unique Differential
Pressure producing meter which utilizes a cone
shaped restriction element specifically designed for
its accuracy, repeatability, and strength in operation
of a broad range products and flowing volumes.
The Smartcone is an Investment cast 316
Stainless steel meter with exceptional flow
performance and high accuracy.
Features a removable area ratio changer (A.R.C.)
Includes a built in temperature thermowell.
Field calibrated meter that does not require
calibration from a third party laboratory to
determine flow coefficient of discharge (Cd).
Short piping run requirements: Five diameters
upstream Zero diameters downstream.

Smartcone
Cone Technology and How it Works

Cone meter existence began as static mixing devices implemented by

anhydrous ammonia producers as a viable solution to a problem that existed
with static mixers at the time. These producers desired to find a high flow
mixer that did not have the negative affects of swirl within their lines as well
as the loss in flow velocity due to the great amount of drag induced on the
fluid by the static mixers impellers or vanes.
Example of a Static Mixer
Example of a cone meter

Smartcone
Cone Technology and How it Works cont.

A cone meter is a Mass type device which relies on a drop

in pressure immediately behind the element to determine
flow rate. See image below P1 P2 = D.P.
A cone meter is classified as a Mass
device because we have a known area in
which we pass a known molecular
weight or gravity under a given line
condition thus yielding a mass flow rate.
Cone meters due to their shape
are conditioning to the flow and
greatly impervious to sediment
and liquid condensates within gas
metering applications. This makes
them excellent applications for
steam metering and other
difficult flow regimes.

SFC Prover Options

The SFC332 flow computer is available in Proving or Non-Proving type application.
DFC specifies 2 types of Prover computers:
331 prover option
&
333 prover option

The 331 & 333 prover options simply specify the number of integrated detector
switches. The 331 is a dual detector equipped computer and the 333 is a single
detector equipped computer.
** It is very important to note which type of system is required as it is a hardware
modification and the number code specifies which chip set will be assembled to your
requested flow computer prover.
When a prover computer is ordered an expansion box will be assembled to the unit.

SFC332 Options
The SFC332is a highly versatile field device and has several options that
are very useful to be aware of.
