Siddhamsa D24

This divisional chart is used to time education and associated events in Vedic Astrology. It is also
called Chaturvimshamsa i.e. the twenty-fourth divisional chart. The word siddhamsa refers to
siddhi (accomplishment) or all knowledge (vidya) acquired by the native and falls among the
vargas that reside in the conscious plane for a native. D24 can be used to time specific events
related to the natives education as well as natives general approach towards education and
knowledge.
Knowledge, especially first lessons or basic/primary knowledge/schooling is seen from the fourth
house. And growth is seen through the upachaya principle via 6th house therefrom. That is the
next level or Bachelors level education is seen by counting six houses from the fourth house in
D24 which is ninth house, and Masters by counting six houses from the ninth house i.e. second
house and so on for doctorate and post-doctoral education.
Main points:
- The primary karaka for this varga chart is Mercury. A strong, well-placed Mercury not only helps
in the smooth transition through different levels of education but also aids the general learning
process for the native.
-Moon is another significator of this chart, being the natural 4H lord and the karaka for mind
used for learning.
-Sun and its placement would point to the source of the natives learning.
- A well-placed and strong benefic in the D24 lagna makes sure that the native can grasp new
concepts easily and quickly.
- The D24 lagnesh in a dushthana would cause troubles and obstacles in learning.
-Karya bhava fourth house therefore to ensure overall strength of the varga, 4H and 4L should
be strong.
- The placement of moon in D24 points to the concentration power as well as the power to make
determined efforts towards learning any particular subject. Moon well placed in a fixed sign
indicates good focus and stability in learning. While Moon in a movable sign could indicate that
the native can get distracted very easily. (Moon in Scorpio, whilst in a fixed sign is also weak. It

could point to a tendency to delve too deeply or fixedly on various topics to the detriment of
overall learning.)
-Badhakesh for the particular D24 lagna if placed in houses (4,9,2,7 etc.) or with the lords of
these houses would lead to obstacles in the course of that education level.
-A retrograde, strong lord of houses 4,9,2,7 etc. would indicate a powerful inner urge to complete
that education level.
-Shubha and Papa argala on the houses 4,9,2,7 etc. or their lords should be carefully judged to
keep track of all planets which, during their planetary periods, would cause intervention and aid
or obstruct that particular education level.
-The close influence of various planets on the houses 4,9,2,7 etc. or their lords indicate the fields
or subjects that would be pursued by the native at different education levels. This is judged using
natural significations of the planets, for eg.
Jupiter for Law, Finance, Banks, teaching, astrology etc
Ketu for Mathematics, Computers etc
Mercury for publishing, communications, crafting items, trade, business etc
Venus for Arts, luxury items, beauty etc
Mars for Police, Army, Defense, Martial Arts, Real Estate, Engineering, Metals, Surgery etc
Sun for politics, astrology, leadership, administration, medicine etc
Saturn for foreign languages, service, labour management etc
Moon for singing, marine related degrees etc
-The association of the 12th lord and with any of the lords of 4,9,2,7 houses in D24 could indicate
going abroad for study at that level.

- Another use of the D24 is for BTR or Birth Time Rectification. One of the BTR rules require the
Pranapada Lagna to be in trines or 7th from Mercury or Venus in D24. The Pranapada Lagnas
position is provided in software such as JHora.
