OVERVIEW

nnovation is one of the key instruments of growth

strategies to enter new markets, to increase the
existing market share and to provide the company with a
competitive edge. Over time destinations and organizations
have failed to succeed due to non-competitive environment.
This is true particularly for developing countries in which
many destinations and organizations are still in their
infancy, thus lacking the ability to exploit technologies,
competencies, and knowledge. Innovation is also a risky
task. Many innovations fail at a high cost. More knowledge
on innovations and tasks associated with innovation
will increase likelihood that activities are developed
successfully. Typically incompetence of organization and
unstructured destination lead more likely to failure. This
time the Department of Tourism and Hospitality of the
faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in The Open University
of Tanzania has taken initiative to bring together different
tourism stakeholders to an International Conference
