Motorcycle City, the United Kingdoms largest motorcycle


retailer, has outlets all over England, over 600 employees
and revenues that doubled over three years to above 70
million. The rapidly growing company was outpacing
their old non-Windows system that couldnt handle the

had to make our own choice rather than following what
others had done, said David Watkins, Motorcycle City
finance director.

RepairClinic.com

In February 1999, appliance repair industry veterans Chris


Hall and Larry Beach decided they could expand sales by
reaching the do-it-yourself appliance repair customer
through the Internet. They launched RepairClinic.com (RCC),
and along with Microsoft Great Plains partner The TM Group,
mapped out a plan to sell appliance parts and accessories via
the Web, as well as provide useful diagnostic and repair
information to do-it-yourself consumers as easily as possible.
The complexities of the appliance parts of the business are
enormous. There are more than 150,000 different models of
appliances and 500,000 various parts still in circulation, so
providing the instructional information and parts necessary
to repair an appliance quickly took careful planning.
The seamless integration between eCommerce and
eEnterprise enables 15,000 to 20,000 customers to
simultaneously access part descriptions and prices, stored
in eEnterprise and served up instantly on RepairClinic.com.
The cost of duplicating these systems in a stand-alone
e-commerce site were unthinkable to the team at RCC.
Its impossible to put a dollar amount on the value we
place on the integration of the eCommerce and eEnterprise
package, Chris Hall, president of RCC, says. Without it, we
would have been writing our own code. This enabled us to
focus more closely on the pertinent issues of our business.
RCC now has 27 employees who spend virtually all of their
time and energy implementing new Web site features at
RepairClinic.com, instead of cleaning up software. RCC
anticipates continued expansion through the use of
technology and their Microsoft Great Plains business
