LOCKY LEGEND CERTIFICATES

.
Locky Legend awards are used extensively to acknowledge and reinforce the values
and behaviours we expect at the school. They are the key factor of individual, group,
class and whole-school rewards, and are highly valued by students.
A very effective strategy to focus the students is to give them all a Locky Legend
Award, placed at the top of their desk. Have them choose the value/s that will help
them make good choices with their learning and behaviour. When they demonstrate
those values, fill in the award- instant reinforcement. This can be repeated
throughout the day.

Mount Lockyer School - Reward System

Operation Procedures
Classroom

Locky Legend Awards are given to students for positive behaviour choices in all areas of
the school and in-class work.
The Locky Legend Award covers the School Behaviour Expectations, the Virtues focus for
each fortnight, Friendly Schools Plus and the Tribes Agreements.
Each classroom has an A3 class list for recording the number of Locky Legend Awards
given out to each student in class and the playground.
Each sheet runs for 2 weeks so results can be used for the Assembly Draw. Once a
Locky Legend certificate is recorded on the class chart, student places it in the
appropriate Faction Bucket on the bench outside the office.
Whole Class reward when class reaches a set number of Locky Legends. Class Reward
could be Rippaboards, Movie & Popcorn or as teacher/class decides.

Playground

Locky Legend Awards given to students in the playground area are added to the class tally
then placed in the Faction Box.

MANAGING STUDENT BEHAVIOUR
Students making GOOD CHOICES are acknowledged for their efforts. For students
making POOR CHOICES the following consequences apply-CMS low key strategies,
incentives should be used to reinforce desired behaviours before moving onto the Magic.

STEP 1
Student refuses to follow directions. Verbal warning.

STEP 2
Student still refuses to follow directions-In-class consequence eg Time
Out area.Students are given several opportunities to comply with directions before this step. The
length of Time Out is determined by the students age. Eg 5 minutes for 5 year olds.

STEP 3
Student still refuses to follow directions-Out-of-class consequence eg
Buddy Class. Students are given time and space to think about their choices and behaviour.

STEP 4
Student still refuses to follow directions-RED CARD is sent to the
office.
Parents will be requested to attend school. A red card is sent to the office
and an admin staff member will come to escort the child to Room 20. The teacher phones the
parent when convenient to explain the situation. The student remains in the Room 20 until the
parent can attend to return their child to class and meet with the teacher.

SUSPENSION
Students will be immediately suspended for verbal abuse of staff and/
or violence towards staff or students.

RE-ENTRY FOLLOWING SUSPENSION

Students returning from suspension must be accompanied by an adult
and will attend the Room 20 where an Individual Behaviour
Management Plan will be developed and implemented.
The student participates in a 5 day, graduated re-entry program focussed on shaping behaviour,
and goal-setting.
