Technical support

Application instructions

Fosroc offers a comprehensive range of high

performance, high quality repair, maintenance and
construction products.
In addition, Fosroc offers a
technical support package to specifiers, end-users and
contractors as well as on-site technical assistance in
locations all over the world.

Clean the surface and remove any dust, unsound or

contaminated material, plaster, oil, paint, grease,
corrosion deposits or algae.
The surface should preferably be prepared using high
pressure water jetting or light abrasive blasting, followed
by thorough washing to remove dust and remaining
particles. Dirt alone may be removed with wire brushes or
similar mechanical means.

Design criteria
Nitofill UR63 is designed to seal and bond cracks in
concrete and masonry. Crack widths of between 0.2 mm
and 10 mm can be treated dependent on requirements.

Oil and grease deposits should be removed by steam

cleaning, detergent scrubbing or the use of a proprietary
degreaser. The effectiveness of decontamination should
be assessed by a pull-off test.

Nitofill UR63 is designed as a permanent solution and can

be used in conjunction with Nitofill WS60 as a means of
permanently stopping the water flow in cracked concrete.
Consult the local Fosroc office for further details.

Blow the cracks and treated surface with oil free air to
ensure complete removal of all dust and loose particles.
Ensure that the surfaces are blown dry.

Page 1

Nitofill UR63
In the presence of running water the flow must be stopped
using Nitofill WS60 which produces a rapid setting waterstopping foam (see separate data sheet). When the water
is stopped the cracks are re-injected with Nitofill UR63.

Solvent 102 immediately after use.

can only be removed mechanically.

All cracks must be sealed and injection packers or nipples

located in place before Nitofill UR63 is injected.

Nitofill UR63 is only to be used in dry or damp concrete or

masonry. Although slightly flexible Nitofill UR63 should
not be used on live cracks or where further movement is
expected. If any doubts arise concerning temperature,
application or substrate conditions, consult the local
Fosroc office.

Hardened material

Limitations

Fixing injection packers

The injection packers inserted into pre-drilled holes shall
be fixed at intervals along the length of each crack. The
distance between each packer will depend upon the width
and depth of the crack. Spacing shall be close enough to
ensure that the resin will penetrate along the crack to the
next point of injection. This will normally be between
200 mm to 500 mm.

Estimating
Supply
Nitofill UR63:
Nitokit Surface Sealant:
Fosroc Solvent 102:

The surface of the cracks between the packers shall be

sealed with a band of Nitokit Surface Sealant, 30 mm to
40 mm wide and 2 mm to 3 mm thick. Both sides of any
cracks which go all the way through a wall or slab shall be
sealed in this way. In the case of a wall or slab which is
cracked all the way through, packers shall be located on
both sides with those at the back placed at midway points
between those at the front.

Section B : Application Method

1.0

Surface preparation

Attention to full and proper preparation of the substrate is essential for complete repair adhesion.
1.1

Clean the surface and remove all traces of dust, oil, paint, curing compounds, grease, corrosion
deposits, algae or any unsound material .

1.2

The surface should be preferably prepared by using high pressure water jetting or light abrasive
blasting, to the satisfaction of the Supervising Engineer. Followed by thorough washing to
remove dust and remaining particles.

1.3

Oil and grease deposits are best removed by steam cleaning, detergent scrubbing or the use of a
proprietary degreaser. The effectiveness of decontamination should then be assessed by a pulloff test.

2.0

Mixing

2.1 The hardener and the base resin should be thoroughly mixed manually until the liquid becomes
clear.
2.2

Nitofill UR63 should be used with standard injection equipment having closed containers at an
injection pressure of 0.4N/mm (4bar).

2.3 Mix only sufficient material that can be used within the pot life of the material. (Refer to technical
Data Sheet)
3.0

Application

Do not use in conditions of running water.

3.1

Nitofill UR63 should be injected using a standard injection equipment having closed containers.

3.2

Injection packers should be inserted into the pre-drilled holes at intervals along the length of the
crack. The distance between each packer shall depend on the length and width of the crack.
Spacing normally would be between 200 mm - 500 mm.

Method statement

constructive solutions

3.3

If practical, seal the surface of the cracks between the packers with a band of Nitomortar FC, 30
to 40 mm wide and 2 to 3 mm thick. Both sides of the cracks which lead through a wall or slab
shall be sealed this way. If the water flow is sever the Nitomortar FC application can be omitted.

3.4

In case of a wall or slab which is cracked all the way through, packers shall be located on both
sides with those at the back placed at midway points between those at the front.

3.5

Each crack shall be treated in a single continuous operation and sufficient material shall therefore
be made prior to the commencement of the work. One end of the injection hose shall be attached
to the lowest packer on vertical cracks or to either end of horizontal cracks.

3.6

Pressure shall be slowly applied by gently squeezing the gun trigger, until resin stops flowing or
starts to flow out of the joint or next packer.

3.7

Pressure shall be removed from the gun and injection shall continue on to the next
location/packer.

3.8

Continue as above at all injection points and then allow to cure for at least 6 hours.

3.9

Injection packers shall be removed and concrete surface shall be cleaned using a wire brush and
thorough washing.

4.0

Cleaning

4.1

Nitomortar FC and Nitofill UR63 should be removed from tools with Fosroc Solvent 102,
immediately after use.
