Certificate in Web Development:

MEANFullStack
A full-stack web developer has the ability to complete software features from
start to finish. Traditionally, software developers who worked on web applications fell into one of several silos, including front-end, back-end, architect, or
data roles. The front-end portion of the code base always has consisted of
three parts: CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. However, as the demand for more
responsive web applications has increased and as browser-based cloud applications have become the norm, the client-side layer of the stack has grown in
complexity compared to the other layers. Now, developers are expected to
take responsibility for application features that encompass all of these roles,
meaning that theneed for full-stack developers has proliferated as more agile
methodologies have been embraced. Upon completion of the program, students have knowledge of:
Semantically structured HTML5
CSS 2.1 and important CSS 3 modules
Page layout techniques and basic typography

Certificate in Healthcare Navigation

In recent years, a number of factors have contributed to the need for healthcare navigators who help individuals and their families reduce barriers to care
and improve healthcare outcomes. Across the healthcare delivery system,
patients expect to participate in decisions about their care and to have rights,
though these are not automatically honored. In many instances, patients
experience poor-quality care because of lack of sensitivity by healthcare
providers to accommodate culture, ethnicity, race, gender, language, lifestylechoices, and individual patient needs. Sometimes, the patients lack
ofknowledge about how to obtain effective recourse when needs are not
metand rights are violated contributes to poor-quality care and low
patientsatisfaction.
This certificate program provides a framework to teach participants to
become navigators who assist patients with coordination of healthcare
services and provider referrals; understand the legal rights of patients;
andfacilitate effective communication among patients and their families,
health professionals, and insurers.
Upon completion of this certificate, students have acquired the knowledge
necessary forpositions such as healthcare navigator, patient representative,
case manager, admissions coordinator, service coordinator, and patient access
specialist. They may work in hospitals, for nonprofits, at community health
organizations, or as consultants. They also are able to:

Today, big data is a universal priority, given its impact on industries like
healthcare, journalism, finance, and science. Large data sets must be analyzed
and visualized by forming and asking key questions and then by organizing
the data to answer those questions. Analytics provide meaningful patterns
inthe data, and data visualization communicates the information clearly
through graphical means. This certificate is designed to familiarize students
with core concepts of data handling, thereby laying the foundation for better
data visualization. Participants begin with a survey course on data visualization, then work through the statistics necessary to analyze data, and finally,
address the management of their data, all of which prepares them to present
clear, actionable findings in any scenario. The program features hands-on
practice with Tableau, R, Excel, and other data-based software. Upon completion of the Certificate program, students are able to:

Certificate in Motion Graphics and

Broadcast Design
Program participants explore the fundamental principles of motion graphics,
which blend art and technology to create dynamic visuals for the screen.
Through the curriculum, they become familiar with the processes of creatingeffective titles and sequences for broadcast graphics, film titles, and
commercials. They develop an understanding of how to create engaging
visual imagery, to generate unique ideas, and to apply color palettes that
support a concept. Students learn how to harness color and to choose
typography to fit the delivery mechanism, whether for television, cinema,
computer monitor, or mobile screen. Also, they master industry-standard
image-manipulation software, including After Effects and Cinema 4D.

NYU School of Professional Studies Initiative for Creativity and

InnovationinCities
Certificate in Creative Cities and Economic Development (Online)
One of humanitys greatest innovations, cities have always been centers of human creativity. Today, however, they also have become the basic platform for economic and business growth. More than half of the worlds population lives in cities, with an estimated 60 million moving to them every year. By 2050, more
than 75 percent of the worlds population will be city dwellers. Moreover, the economic output of the 60 largest global cities will grow by $30 trillion,
accounting for two-thirds of all economic growth.
As the worlds economy has become more global, its geography has become more focused; talent, innovation, and economic output are concentrating in a
relative handful of cities. The 100 largest metro areas house just 29 percent of the worlds population but account for $14.5 trillion in economic output,
or 60 percent of the global total. Given the urban tilt of technology and entrepreneurship, and the speed at which the transition is occurring, it is critical that
city and economic development leaders and decision-makers appreciate the place, the assets, and the capabilities that are most critical to businesses location
decisions. They need to have a deep understanding of the complex and often subtle interplay between business competitiveness and community prosperity.
Inhis international best seller, The Rise of the Creative Class, NYU Global Research Professor Richard Florida outlined the three Ts of economic development
(technology, talent, and tolerance), without which no city or region can hope to prosper in the creative economy.
The NYU School of Professional Studies Certificate in Creative Cities and Economic Development provides city and state officials, economic development
professionals, nonprofit leaders, and city builders with the skills, expertise, and insights that they need to create, implement, and measure asset-driven strategies
and plans that move beyond real estate to build upon the creativity, innovation, and human capability of their local communities. Upon completion of the
Certificate program, students will have achieved the following capabilities and competencies:
Mastery of the fundamentals, tools, and techniques of
economicdevelopment
Full-scale, data-driven city economic development attraction
andretentionstrategies

An understanding of key differences between economic development

practices across the globe for developed cities and countries
and for those still developing
Best-practice development and curation of creative cities approaches
