1. Product Overview
1.1. Introduction
The NWZ-UD150A USB WLAN Adapter is an ultra compact wireless adapter which provides
simple (physical WPS button) and secure (64/128bit WEP, WPA, WPA2 WLAN security) way
to enable 150M 802.11n wireless access to your notebook or desktop computer.
Moreover, it adopts latest Green WLAN technology, which controls power consumption
automatically in accordance with WLAN activities. No setting required!

This Mini USB

Adapter can save up to 80% power consumption than legacy 802.11n products.

2. Installation
Describes the procedure for installing the NWZ-UD150A

2.1. Installing the Software of the NWZ-UD150A USB adapter


(1). Insert product CD to you PC. At the welcome screen, please click Driver installation to install
the driver and utility.

If you dont see the welcome screen, go to Start My Computer and click to open
CD-ROM drive.

Then double click autorun.exe and wait for few seconds, the welcome

screen will show up.

Click Next.

Click Install to start the


setup program.

Waiting for system running.


(2). Restart your computer
Once the installation is
finished, click Finish to
restart you computer.

(3). Connect the USB Adapter


Plug the NWZ-UD150A Adapter into
USB port on your Laptop
or Desktop computer.

(4). Check the Wireless Connection


Double click on Wireless Utility icon in the system tray or on the desktop.

Click on Available Network tab to view all


the access points with the range of this
adapter. Double click on the SSID that you
want to connect.

If the wireless network you selected


requires security, the utility will guide
through the appropriate security setup.

After the signal strength is indicated, you


have successfully set up your wireless
network on you PC or Laptop.

3. Connect to Internet- Station Mode


when used used as an client it connects to wireless router or AP

NWZ-UD150A provides 3 methods to setup the connection.

3.1. Setup in Wireless Utility


Below steps will help you select the access point through the Wireless Utility and connect
after setting the security.
(1). Check your wireless LAN setting information.
Check the access point setting information and take note as list below.
Name

Information set in the wireless router/access point

SSID

(Connection name)

Encryption type

Authentication type

WEP

Open System / Share Key / Auto

WPA /WPA2/

AES / TKIP

WPA2 Mixed
Network key

(the Encryption key of the access point)

(2). Select Access Point

Make sure NWZ-UD150A is under Station


Mode.

Click on Available Network tab to find the


access points and double click on its SSID.
If the access point you are connecting is not
in the list, click Refresh to renew the list.

The Security setting window will show up if


the access point requires security.
Enter the information you checked from the
access point and click OK.

You can check General information once the


wireless network connected successfully.

3.2. Setup Wireless LAN with WPS PBC


If your wireless router /access point is also WPS supported, you can complete the connection
setting by just pressing the WPS button.

Press the WPS button on your wireless

router/ access point to enable the WPS


paring.

Then release the button when

the WPS LED is lit.

Then you need to press the WPS button on


the mini adapter.
(If you can not press WPS button with
your

fingers,

please

press

it

with

something sharp, e.g. a pen).


When the setup window shows up,
release the button.

You can check General information once


the WPS connection is established.

3.3. Setup Wireless LAN with WPS PIN


Setup the wireless LAN with a PIN code if the wireless router /access point supports WPS PIN
function.

Open the Wireless Utility of mini


adapter and click the Wi-Fi
Protect Setup.
Write down the PIN code and
press the

Pin Input Config

(PIN).

Select a specific access point by


click Yes.

Click on the SSID which you


want to connect.
If the access point you are
connecting is not in the list, click
Refresh to renew the list

NWZ-UD150A is waiting for


the

connection

with

your

selected Access Point.

Meanwhile, open the Access


Points setup page and input the
PIN code.

You

can

check

General

information once the connection


is established.

4. Connect to WiFi Devices- AP Mode


Use NWZ-UD150A as a wireless access point, and you can enjoy the Internet with other
WiFi supported devices such as gaming machines or a mobile phone.

(1). Switch the Mode type to Access Point


Select Access Point mode and wait for
the system mode change.

Select the Internet connection you want to


share and the Wi-Fi security setting to use
for access point will be displayed.

Use your WiFi enabled device to search for WiFi


Connection.

You can find the AP in the

WiFi Networks.

Troubleshooting
Problem

Corrective Action
Make sure you have turned on your computer

LEDdoes not turn on


when I plug in the wireless
USB adapter.

Check the utility and driver for your WLAN adapter have
installed correctly.
Restart your computer and plug in the adapter again.
Make sure there is no hardware conflict and check your
computer resource information.

Cannot access the


configuration utility.

Make sure the WLAN adapter is installed / plugged in


properly.
Check the utility version you have installed is correct.
Make sure the ACT LED on the WLAN adapter is blinking.
Check the wireless router is within range and move your
computer closer to the wireless router.
