unos unas se utiliza el adjetivo some (algunos).
Se utiliza a delante de palabras que empiezan por consonante, por h aspirada, o por u, eu, ew cuando se pronuncian
/ju:/, y delante de palabras que comienzan por o cuando se pronuncian u (ej. one).
Ejemplos:
A chair / Una silla

detrs de adverbios de cantidad como such, half, etc.

A few / un poco
El artculo indeterminado puede acompaar a un nombre propio, el cual se convierte de esta forma en nombre

LECCIN 6 VERBS
6. VERBS
6.1 VERBS DEFINITION
A verb, from the Latin verbum meaning word, is a word (part of speech) that in syntax conveys an action
(bring, read, walk, run, learn), an occurrence (happen, become), or a state of being (be, exist, stand). In the usual
description of English, the basic form, with or without theparticle to, is the infinitive.
Un verbo, que proviene de la palabra latina verbum , es una palabra (parte de la oracin) que en la sintaxis transmite una
accin (traer, leer, caminar, correr, aprender), una ocurrencia (pasar, llegar a ser), o un estado del ser (ser, existir, de
pie). En Ingls, la forma bsica, con o sin la partcula to, es el infinitivo.
In many languages, verbs are inflected (modified in form) to encode tense, aspect, mood, and voice. A verb may also
agree with the person, gender, and/or number of some of its arguments, such as its subject, or object. Verbs have tenses:
present, to indicate that an action is being carried out; past, to indicate that an action has been done; future, to indicate
that an action will be done.

The verbs that express a state of being take a little practice to spot, but, actually, they are the most common. The most
common verb is the verb to be.
Los verbos que expresan un estado de ser a veces pueden ser difciles de detectar, pero, en realidad, son los ms
comunes. El verbo ms comn es el verbo ser. Verbo TO BE.

1 Action Verb
An action verb expresses an activity that a person or thing can do.
Accin o actividad que una persona o cosa puede hacer. For example:
Lee eats
cake.
The
Lee
likes cake.
The
bear is hungry.
Los verbos que expresan un estado y no una accin los llamamos verbos estativos.
2. Stative Verb
A stative verb expresses a state rather than an action. A stative verb typically relates to a state of being, a thought, or an
emotion. For example:
I am
at home. Yo estoy en casa.
She believes
in fairies. Ella cree en Hadas.
He feels
elated. El se siente eufrico.
3. Transitive Verb
A transitive verb is one that acts on something (i.e., it has a direct object). A transitive verb is a verb that can take a direct
object. In other words, it is done to someone or something. Most verbs are transitive.
For example:
I saw
Lee ate
The
A transitive verb contrasts with an intransitive verb. An intransitive verb cannot have a direct object.
Here is an example of a transitive verb:
He
read a book.
(Read (from to read) is a transitive verb. In this example, the direct object is a book. To read is transitive because you can
read something. You can read a poem, a story, a face, a horoscope, etc.)
Here is an example of an intransitive verb:
He snores. (Snores (from to snore) is an intransitive verb. It has no direct object. You cannot snore something.)
4. Intransitive Verb
An intransitive verb is one that does not act on something (i.e. there is no direct object).
For example:
The
My
The
rain fell.
throat hurts.
cat sneezed.
4. Auxiliary Verb
An auxiliary verb (or helping verb) (Verbos para ayudar o que forman otras
verbos)accompanies a main verb to help express tense, voice ormood.
The most common auxiliary verbs are be, do, and have (in their various forms). Here are
some examples of auxiliary verbs:
Lee has
The

voice).)
If
he were to arrive in the next 10 minutes, we would be on
schedule. Si el
llegase en los
prximos diez minutos, nosotros estaramos dentro del horario.
(Here, the auxiliary verbs were and would help to express mood (in this case,
the subjunctive mood).)
5. Modal Verb
A modal verb is a type of auxiliary verb used to express ideas such as ability, possibility,
permission, and obligation. The modal auxiliary verbs
are can, could, may, might, must, ought to, shall, should, will, and would. For example:
Lee can
(Here, the modal verb can helps to express the idea of ability.)
Lee might
eat that pie before he gets home.
antes de llegar a casa. (Expresa posibilidad)
(Here, the modal verb might helps to express the idea of possibility.)
Lee may

(Here, the modal verb may helps to express the idea of permission.)
(Tiene el permiso de comerse tantos pasteles como quiera)
Lee should
give you some of that pie given you bought it. Lee debera darte un
poco
de ese pastel dado que t lo has comprado.
6. Phrasal Verb
A phrasal verb is a verb made up of more than one word (usually two words). Est
formado por dos palabras, un verbo principal y una preposicin o partcula. No debemos
fiarnos del significado del verbo principal al que estamos acostumbrados cuando va solo,
porque al ponerle la preposicin cambia completamente de significado.
A phrasal verb has a main verb and another word (either a preposition or a particle). The
phrasal verb usually has a meaning different to the main verb. For example:
A
burglar will often break a window to break in. Un ladrn
romper una ventana
para entrar (sin permiso)
normalmente
(Here, the phrasal verb break in means to enter illegally, which is different to break.)
If
you drop the baton the team will drop back to last place.
(Here, the phrasal verb drop back means to fall behind, which is different to drop.)
