Motivation (Student A)

Integrativeness
Because the picture is really,
really, really good and really
beautiful so it is encourage me to
know about the story itself. So it, it
encouraged me to study English.
when I go study trip, I always looked
for the foreign people and then take
them to take a picture with me to
practice my English so that is one of
my motivation to learn English
because I know when I have a study
trip I need to find umm foreign
people and then it was like umm
very good moment when you can
talk to foreign people and then take
a picture together with them.

I also umm by learning and

speaking English you can get more :

It makes me easier to solve the

questions on the : : : elementary
school examinations. Umm. So, it
can help me, only for help to, to
gain the good mark.

I feel cool when I speak English .

But when I write something in the

formal, I mean in the essay that I
need to submit. Err. Grammar, is, is
really, needed in that one. Because,
if your grammar is wrong, even
though only the past tense, or
present tense, or the simple things
like that. Err. You cannot, share
what is you want to talk about. I
mean the people cannot, gain, what
is your meaning in your essay. I
mean your essay cannot describe
what you feel err at that time. So,
the grammar, umm in that case, err
is really important, for writing
essay.

Learning English five or six years old. (Does it say something about student A motivation to learn English?)

Demotivation
Because in your brains they also just think about the grammar that makes your mouth stops to speak so if you
want to speak just speak up. Without thinking about the grammar. Thats why I think that grammar is not really
important for me
I remember that umm my mother always pushed me to remember about to be, past tense, present tense, verb
ing, something like that. But I dont know why we need, we need to remember all of that.
Because err I dont think the grammar really help because sometimes I missed the grammar.

Foreign language anxiety

Umm, not really. Because yeah, I dont like learn English grammar.
Yeah umm in ele : : : mentary school I remember that umm my mother always pushed me to remember about to
be, past tense, present tense, verb ing, something like that. But I dont know why we need, we need to
remember all of that. Because umm you need to match between I err so that to be will am. You, the to be will be
are. In the present tense. But in the past tense it will be different. Umm, so : : : I dont like to remember those
thoughts like that because I dont know why we need, we need that and why? This one is different with this one.
So, because I dont know what does it mean and I dont know the meaning behind the : : : learning English
grammar or err in my case is the past tense and present tense to be. Err so? Yeah I dont like to learn that one.

Attitude toward grammar learning

It makes me easier to solve the questions on the : : : elementary school examinations. Umm. So, it can
help me, only for help to, to gain the good mark. Only that.
It indeed umm helps me err more err when I write essay. But not when I am speaking to each other.
Because, if your grammar is wrong, even though only the past tense, or present tense, or the simple
things like that. Err. You cannot, share what is you want to talk about. I mean the people cannot, gain,
what is your meaning in your essay. I mean your essay cannot describe what you feel err at that time.
So, the grammar, umm in that case, err is really important, for writing essay.

Grammar learning
It is start by reading some story books with a picture?
So while I was reading that book I ((inaudible)) always bring my dictionary with me so : : : when there is
a word that I dont know what does it mean and I just look it directly to my dictionary. And then, yeah, I
think that was my first time to learn English. Besides, I also learn English by err looking some short
movie. You know? Some short movie in VCD1.

I learn English grammar by practice. So : : : I know the structure first, and then I solved many questions
in the book umm and then, check the answers and then learn from the mistakes. And I umm re : : : redo
again the questions, by : : : deleting all my answers. Prior then. And I check it again. When I gain a good
mark, I mean err I think I conclude that I have gained err the good understanding of the grammar of err
umm in that subject.

The ideal and actual grammar learning of student A are similar.
