The Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence is looking for real pictures of staff and youth in out-of-
school time programs to use on our website and in our various communications with the public. By using
real pictures of real programs, we can begin to put a real face to afterschool!
IMPORTANT: Please be sure to have parents/caregivers sign a photo release before sending pictures!
Winners will be recognized at the Spotlight on Afterschool Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October
13th, 2010 at 11:30 am
Arizona Biltmore Resort, Grand Ballroom
The Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence, knowing that this year's legislative session would be
heavily focused on the state's budget problems, consciously decided to turn its attention to those
candidates running for state offices in 2010 in hopes that we can raise their awareness to both the need
for and value of quality afterschool programming. In the process, we also hope to identify and recruit
future "afterschool champions" that we will be able to work with in the months and years ahead to protect
Arizona's children.
The Center is starting to recruit partners to work with us on this exciting project. We are confident you all
will want to join us in promoting the afterschool agenda. Please e-mail Melanie McClintock at
mmcclintock@azafterschool.org to indicate your interest in:

The Northland Youth Coalition is pleased to announce the opportunity to request for proposals for mini-
grants from $100 - $300 each for regional youth programs. (When we say "mini," we mean "mini"!) The
Mini-Grant Program has been developed to recognize, fund and celebrate creative small-scale projects or

of equipment that you know would make a great difference in how children spend the day with
you? These are the kinds of projects they are looking to fund. Application can be found hereor by visiting
the Northland Youth Coalition regional webpage at http://azafterschool.org/Regional-Coalitions/Northern-
AZ.aspx. For more information , please contact Stefan Wehnau at 928.532.4141.
