Cooling Towers
After 2 months of testing the building engineer reduced blow downs from
once per week due to less solids in blown down water to once per month.
TDS incoming water before testing 200 ppm-pH 7.3 after testing pH 7.7 -
TDS 160 ppm .
A 5000 gallon tank was filled with municipal tap water pH-7.2 @ 70 degrees
F.
A Basic Energy unit was installed inline with a 3.75 gpm re-circulating
pump.
Due to the large volume of x-rays processed per day, hospital staff looked
for a better solution.
No chemicals were used to treat the test processor during the evaluation.
Routine inspection of the test unit showed significant algae reduction after
1st week of testing with no trace of algae found after 30 days.
Based on these results the hospital installed Basic Energy process units on
all 12 processors.
Midwest Metal Plating uses a lot of make up water on final rinse baths due
to high concentration of metal particle build-up between final product
rinsing cycles.
There were also high disposal costs due to heavy metals and low pH
readings of 7.1.
Basic Energy process unit was placed in re-circulating water lines in the
final rinse baths at the end of the day and were left in the final rinse baths
over night.
A visual inspection was done twelve hours later before the start of the first
shift. The water was clear to the bottom of the tanks and pH rose to 7.48.
Plant personnel took readings of treated water and determined there would
be significant savings in maintenance, water usage and disposal cost.
Wheaton College tested Basic Energy process unit in their Olympic size
swimming pool 378,00 gallons for three weeks to test their effectiveness in
treating low pH in the water.
Maintenance and water testing were conducted twice daily at the faculty
before and during testing Water for the pool was from a municipal source.
A two year average of prior data showed pH levels in the pool were 7.1
average and were not up to acceptable standards.
Adding more chlorine and other chemicals did not raise pH higher and
swimmers complained about skin irritation and the chlorine odor.
Basic Energy process unit was installed in the main filter sump.
The pool did not need the former amount of chlorine that was previously
required. Swimmers loved it.
After testing the house and grounds manager decided to also use Basic
Energy tubes in other applications on the campus.
