An advertising strategy is a plan to reach and persuade a

customer to buy a product or a service. The basic elements of
the plan are 1) the product itself and its advantages, 2) the
customer and his or her characteristics, 3) the relative
advantages of alternative routes whereby the customer can be
informed of the product, and 4) the optimization of resulting
choices given budgetary constraints. In effect this means that
aims must be clear, the environment must be understood, the
means must be ranked, and choices must be made based on
available resources. Effective product assessment, market
definition, media analysis, and budgetary choices result in an
optimum plannever the perfect plan because resources are
always limited.

Marketing communication is an interactive process (Rowley, 1998),

being a two-way conversation between the producer and the
consumer. Companies need to inform their customers about new or
existing products, communicate innovations, try to persuade new
consumers to try their products, summing up, establish awareness
about brands in the consumers mind. The consumer perceives the
brand, creates his or her personal opinion and acts according to his
or her attitude to the product promoted. For most companies the
question is not whether to communicate but rather what to say, to whom
and how often Kotler (1994; 596). On the other hand, Wilmshurst
and Mackay (2002) underscore the importance of the right
combination of all communication tools involved because the wrong
selection could lead to confusion of the customers, even more,
discouraging them from purchase the product.
