Responsibilities include:

Applying industrial design expertise into optimizing overall system architec


ture , system components, and subsystems for cost & manufacturability
Applying DFM principles to concepts and translating concepts to designs read
y for release
Working with manufacturing & process engineers to optimize designs for cost,
compliance and performance requirements
Evaluating different concepts and generating trade-off matrices for team and
management review
Being a team player and remaining self-motivated in a fast-paced, innovation
-driven environment
The Sr. System Design and Release Engineer will play an integral role on a great
team that seeks to commercialize the liquid metal battery technology, which wil
l enable an efficient, stable, and secure electricity grid, paving the way for h
igh penetration of renewable energy resources.

Requirements
BS Degree (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) + 7 years or MS degree (Mec
hanical or Electrical Engineering) + 3 year industry experience
High level understanding of mechanical, thermal, and electrical issues and a
n ability to use knowledge of these combined fields to create a low-cost design
Experience designing components to perform multiple functions, simplifying t
he design, and enabling cost reduction
Demonstrated success in transitioning products from concept to release for m
anufacturing
Strong background in design optimization and demonstrated out of the box think
ing capabilities
Strong hands-on skills, ability to assemble early prototypes and subject pro
totypes to validation/verification routines
Prior experience designing high voltage industrial equipment for utility/ene
rgy storage with integrated electrical subsystems highly preferred
Experience working with high temperature electrical or chemical systems is p
referred
Ability
to interface directly with suppliers and drive design modifications to meet
cost/performance metrics
Strong work ethic and positive working attitude; effective communication ski
lls required
Possesses drive and motivation to develop into a leader, subject matter expe
rt, and over time, supervise engineering teams

Responsibilities include:
Designing, developing and implementing overall and unit manufacturing proces
ses
Ensuring equipment and processes are able to meet demand, quality, and cost
targets
Interfacing with vendors and contractors to design, install, integrate, and
validate new manufacturing equipment

Incorporating risk management and safety features into process designs and m
ethods
Conducting cost analysis and process optimization studies
Devising and leading lab-scale experiments to validate critical processing m
ethods
Authoring and controlling PFMEAs, specifications, work instructions, stateme
nts of work, training documents, etc.
Hands-on ownership of manufacturing equipment to insure proper operation, ma
intenance and use
Leading /conducting continuous improvement of manufacturing process in the r
elentless pursuit of safety, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency
Process troubleshooting using 8D methodology
Defining preventative maintenance recommendations to the maintenance team
The role will involve being a part of a small, integral and driven team that see
ks to commercialize the liquid metal battery technology. The eventual deployment
of this technology will enable an efficient, stable, and secure electricity gri
d, paving the way for high penetration of renewable energy resources.
Requirements
B.S. or Masters degrees in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturin
g Engineering from a top-tier university
5 years working experience in electrical or chemical product manufacturing p
rocesses
Prior experience in statistical process control
Experience with APQP
Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Design for Manufacturabilit
y preferred
Strong work ethic and positive working attitude
Strong organizational, verbal, and communication skills
Capability of motivation and leadership for problem solving and process impr
ovement
Experience with industrial manufacturing equipment in a high-volume producti
on environment
