Lithium Project in South of Peru

According to last reports from INGEMMET, there is an elongated plain

corridor from NW to SE, deflecting at the boundary with Chile from North to
South. This is product of a back arc basin located between the Occidental
Andean Ridge and the Eastern Andean Ridge. Here are also the main lithium
deposits of South America, and these cover Peru, Bolivia, Chile and
Argentina.
These deposits apparently are enriched from south to north, because
of last Lithium Production Reports where there are well known the lithium
carbonate deposits of Atacama brines in Chile; the lithium chlorides and
lithium carbonates of Hombre Muerto brines in Argentina; and the main of all
of these ones because of its size, the Uyuni brines located in Bolivia.
Nevertheless apart of these ones there are many small deposits spanned in
this direction, and many of them are in Peru.
Actually, from all the probably potential lithium brine deposits in Peru
there are few areas not staked mainly by the reason to be closer to boundary
with Chile or Bolivia and because of its location in Natural Reserve areas.

Suches, Vizcachas and Loriscota Claims

These brines were the best available areas to stake because of many
reasons:
1. They are located in an area with the same geological conditions
like the big brines to the south in Chile, Argentina and Bolivia.
2. They are at more than 50 Km. from the international boundary of
Peru with another countries.
3. As there are still additional possible projects to the south; in the
Chilcolpa and Vilacota brines, it was not considered for being
inside a Natural Reserve Area and for not to be out of the
international boundary of 50 Km.
4. In Salinas and Laguna Blanca brines are the best lithium values,
but they already were staked and Salinas is inside the southern
border of a Natural Reserve Area, while Laguna Blanca is located
just in the border of the international boundary with Chile.
5. These selected brines have some lithium anomalies, according to
last geochemical analysis by INGEMMET.

6. There are many roads to get to the project from different big
cities around the project, like Arequipa, Moquegua and Tacna.
On the other hand, there are just some small troubles to the project:
1. Suches brines appears to be an important water source for
S.P.C.C., for being located closer to the operations of this huge
copper porphyry deposit, this could be considered an
strategically area for them.
2. As in this part of the project there are not main water sources,
there are some old studies carried out with the aim to get
underground water from these places to take them to the
desserts close to the plains in the coast and the mines.
3. In spite of being a miner community, it is possible to cause
disturbs mainly moved or handed by neighbor miners.
