Eben Upton
Technical Director,
Broadcom and Executive
Director, Raspberry
Pi Foundation, UK,
EMBA 2009
[The programme] gave me
a framework within which
I could understand the
challenges that were facing
the Foundation, particularly
around marketing, scaling
and working capital flow.
At both Broadcom and
the Foundation, the EMBA
gave me more confidence
in negotiations, and
helped me think creatively
in terms of structuring
business deals.
Shiri Zilberman,
Marketing
and Business
Development,
Broadcom, EMBA 2011
I had to pick just two
electives when I was
doing the programme,
and afterwards there was
a lot of feedback from
the other participants
about the courses theyd
done. I felt Id really be
interested to do some
of those courses myself,
and when I came back
this year I was able to
do the Fast Strategy,
Intrapreneurship and
Business Instinct elective.
Global Business
The programme structure and content
is designed to meet the needs of global
business leaders, and attracts participants
from around the world. Part of the
programme is delivered overseas through
an International Business Study Trip.
The country visited is carefully selected
according to current economic conditions
and its relevance to the needs of the current
class. The course covers internationalisation
strategies and the class meets local business
leaders and government officials, and
visits leading domestic and international
organisations to understand at first hand
the varied responses to globalisation.
Practical
We are committed to delivering a
programme which is appropriate to your
work so you can apply your newly acquired
knowledge and skills as soon as you return
to work after a weekend session. Each
course aims to provide ideas, insights and
frameworks that will help you be more
effective in your organisation. We also offer
a team consulting project, comprising a
week-long group project, where you work
in a small team for a specific client on a
live project. Client companies typically
implement the recommendations and
strategies developed during these projects.
Customisable
The University of Cambridge is celebrated for its
small class teaching and very personal approach to
learning. The Cambridge Executive MBA programme
can be tailored to your particular needs or can focus
on subjects of specific interest through a variety of
electives, as well as through an extended individual
project supervised by a member of the University of
Cambridges faculty.
Professional & Personal Development
The Professional Development programme comprises
a suite of discrete professional training modules,
designed to impart critical practical and transferable
skills. More importantly, a significant amount of time
is allocated to Personal Development which focuses
on the improvement of soft skills, such as cultural
intelligence, diplomacy and reflexivity which are
critical to effective management of oneself and others.
Participants are also able to work with executive
coaches on a one-to-one basis.
Lifelong learning
After graduation, the Cambridge EMBA continues
to furnish its alumni with the knowledge and skills to
become more effective managers. EMBA graduates
can return to Cambridge to take one elective a year
(free of charge) alongside current EMBA participants.
This is a valuable opportunity for alumni to keep
abreast of the latest research and thinking, and catch
up with former colleagues.

collaborating with, peers at a similar level of seniority.

Outcomes
We measure the success of the programme by the
outcome of its participants. Participants themselves
have diverse requirements of the programme and
measure whether or not these have been achieved, by
a variety of outcomes. Some feel they have become
better managers, some have achieved promotion,
and others have started their own businesses.
What can be said of all our alumni is that they have
achieved the goals they set themselves and have
generated greater wealth or success for themselves,
and for the organisations for which they work.

Andrew Jones
Managing Director, Wellbeing, Nuffield
Health, EMBA 2011
When Dr Andrew Jones joined the programme,
he was responsible for around 5 million
worth of costs at Nuffield Health. Two years
out, he has overseen the acquisition of nine
Virgin Active Health Clubs and is running a part
of the business that has a turnover of just over
250 million.
Filip Corveleyn
Head of Research & Development, Xenion
Legal, EMBA 2010
Filip was working for a large international law
firm when he joined the EMBA programme.
One of his reasons for joining was his
fascination with the way legal business and
legal service delivery were carried out and
whether alternative business models of how
law was brought to market could work. Filip
joined forces with another legal professional
Felix Rackwitz on the programme and together
they collected a lot of ideas, research and
data on what was happening in the legal
market. Shortly after completion of the EMBA,
Filip joined startup Xenion Legal, and is now
applying his ideas for a new business model for
legal service delivery.
Itai Cohen
Managing Director at Buzz Retail Limited,
EMBA 2011

Selfridges. The unique business model, which
has made the company a market leader, is
