PROCEDURE:
1. Check for access road suitable for receipt of transformer at site.
2. Verify the Transformer rating on name plate and observe for physical damages at
the time of receiving the transformer. In case of any damage intimate to
manufacturer/supplier.
3. Check the healthiness of impact recorder by physical inspection.
4. Use wire slings/ropes of appropriate lifting capacity & length to lift the
transformer.
5. Check for proper positioning of the crane, firmness of the ground, boom length
etc.
6. Do not remove the temporary steel frame provided for bushing protection.
7. Apply the sling/wire rope on the main lifting hooks provided on the transformer
tank.
8. Using crane, lift the transformer from trailer and place on the foundation. While
placing check the orientation and clearances, in reference to the equipment layout
drawing.
9. Remove the impact recorder from the transformer with the witness of Engineer /
Client and send the recorder to manufacturer as recommended by them to get the
data/ details on impact during transit.
10.Measure the IR values of windings & core of the transformer.
11.Assemble the accessories to transformer main tank as per approved drawing and
manufacturer instruction manual.

a) Radiators:i) Close both the radiator valves at top & bottom, then remove the blanking
plates and temporary gaskets fixed in radiator & radiator valves.
ii) With crane lift the radiators using nylon belts/slings and move to the
required position.
iii) Install the newly supplied oil seal gaskets to the radiator valve flange,
having glued them on both the sides.
iv) Match the radiator flange to the main tank & tighten the fasteners to the
required torque.
v) After installing all radiators, fix the supporting strips.

b) HV / LV terminal box:i) Remove the temporary steel frame provided over the buildings.
ii) Un pack the wooden casing and lift the terminal box
iii) Place the terminal box on the transformer, to the required orientation
iv) Fix the terminal box to the tank; tighten up to the required torque.
v) Assemble the Bus bars to the HV/LV bushing; install the breather &
other parts provided loose.

12.Measure the dielectric strength of oil provided for top up, record the values and
proceed with topping up the transformer main tank & OLTC tank. Fill oil up to the
required level (shown by the Oil level gauge)
13.Start & carry out the oil filtration / transformer drying out.
14.Continue the drying out process for a minimum 2 hours after reaching the desired
level of BDV.

15.Again verify for oil level in main & OLTC tank, before removing the filter machine.
If necessary, top up with the filtered oil.
16.Padlock all valves to their normal operating position.
17.Fix transformer identification board, Danger notice on transformer gates.
18.Paste phase identification stickers on the cover of HV/LV termination box covers.
19.Finally clean the transformer and keep the cover of HV/LV box, OLTC box and
Marshalling kiosk closed tightly,
20.Complete other activity like earthing, cable termination etc.
