Captain Lazars Message

I am glad to have our newsletter distributed today
after being off line for the last two weeks. Thank you
for your patience and to the many of you who emailed
me asking what happened?
Auto Burglaries
We are seeing a consistent stream of auto burglaries in
the Central District. We are working on our prevention
strategy to get the word out about not leaving
valuables. We have arrested 17 people year to date
for breaking into cars.

Captain David Lazar

Commanding Officer Central Station

At 2:00 p.m. today, the plainclothes team arrested two

individuals who broke into a car at Hyde and
Lombard. As of March 12, 2016, I am increasing the
number of plainclothes officers so that we can capture
more individuals responsible for this crime!
Events
Central Station Officers and officers from throughout the Department did a
tremendous job with Super Bowl City. Once the Super Bowl was over, we went right
into the Chinese New Year, followed by a parade. Once we completed the
parade, we had a dignitary visit and we are now making plans for the St. Patricks
Day Parade on March 12, 2016. It is a busy time of year.
Staffing
Thanks to our aggressive hiring plan, supported by the Mayors Office and Board
of Supervisors, we are hiring a lot of officers. Although we, as a Department, are
still short officers, we are starting to see an increase at Central Station. Hiring
officers greatly benefits the various neighborhoods in the Central District.
On March 12, 2016, we begin a new 6 month period for shift sign up for the
officers at Central Station. Some officers will be changing assignments. We will see
a new beat officer in Chinatown, two new officers in the Ping Yuen, a new officer in
North Beach and a new officer in Union Square. Next week, I will let you know who
the newly assigned officers are. I encourage the beat officers to be visible, get to
know all the merchants and residents on their beat and work with everyone to
address community issues.
On March 19, 2016, we will get 5 new officers from the Police Academy, who will
start their field training at Central Station.

Incredible Basketball Team

Congratulations to the Central Station Basketball team who won 2nd place in the City today in a
championship game against Mission Station. The game was 46-43 and was close down to the very second. I
am proud of our team!
Next week, for the month of March, we will feature our officer and citizen of the month. I will also showcase
some recent great arrests.

Have a great weekend!
