Christianity and online life

A resource guide put together for Rev. Bernard Westerveld on Monday 19 April 2010

Books :
Culture making by Andy Crouch
Christian witness in a post-modern world- Harry Lee Poe
Christian cyberspace companion- Jason Baker *a bit old and outdated but still useful
Searching for Intimacy: Pornography, the Internet and the XXX Factor by Lyndon Bowring.
… coming out in 2011 is Tim Challies’s book on Christians and technology. He has put together a
list of articles that share some random (and important) thoughts that will be in the unpublished
book. You can find a list of links to the 5 or 6 short entries here.
Worldliness by CJ Mahaney deals with this subject a bit but all together deals with the solution to
our problem by looking it at a redemptive-historical approach to worldliness in all forms.

Challies is dutch, CRC Heidleberg raised, Ontarian raised, Canadian who is without
question the most widely read (but in terms of numbers and variety of followers) blogger in
all of evangelicalism (broadly defined). He is also an unofficial spokesperson for the so-
called New Calvinist movement and his opinions (and links) are always taken serious by
both blogs and the seminary academia (evangelical, reformed, and liberal) as a sort of gage
in where they need to put their efforts. He is also most used in the body of Christ as a book
reviewer. He has written near a thousand book reviews since 2002.)

7. Here is another longer talk that is more comphrehensive   with a Q&A:  by Quentin
Schultze: Beyond the Digital Rat Race: Using Technology Wisely in Our Lives, Work, and

enough). It is best to listen on your computer or Ipod to this while doing other tasks over a
cup of coffee.

Internet use is rather wide… I have presumed to limit your intention to person computers, browsing,
and entertainment technology (blogs, facebook, twitter, hulu, youtube, etc…).
