tickets to a different performance i.e Friday night & Saturday night - tickets to the second show will be
discounted to $14. Purchasing tickets to a Thursday night & Saturday night will not result in discount as it
is the same show order. Tickets to both performances MUST be purchased at the same time. Finally, this
discount applies to IN PERSON SALES or PHONE ORDERS ONLY. There is NO discount for
online ticket sales.

Tickets will be available in person at the Showplace box office, or on the web at www.showplace.org - NO

available by phone (742-SHOW), website, or in person. Remember that the multi-show discount can only
be applied when tickets are purchased in person or on the phone, and that tickets must be purchased at the
same time. Please be patient as it will be very busy between 10-1pm at Showplace on the first day of sales.
Rest assured that the shows will not sell out on the first day. Parents DO NOT need tickets to each show –
only the one they wish to view. Students wishing to watch the performance (from inside the theatre), will
require a ticket. There is a closed circuit TV set up in the lounge downstairs so parents and students
waiting to perform can watch. Showplace is a professional theatre and ALL seats are great for viewing
dance!
If you have any questions please call the studio, email us, or ask your instructor.
Please check the schedule carefully – make sure you purchase tickets for the correct show!
PLEASE . . . DO NOT WAIT - GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY!!
WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PARENTS WHO DO NOT GET TICKETS,
OR WHEN A SHOW IS SOLD OUT!

FIVE AND TEN YEAR AWARDS:

If this is your 5th or 10th year with Premiere Studio of Dance we want to hear about it! Please
write your name and the title of your first year dance routine on the sheet posted on the bulletin
board in the studio. Five year awards will be handed out SATURDAY AFTERNOON if you are
a dancer who is ONLY dancing in that performance. Five and ten year awards will be handed out
SATURDAY EVENING (both awards will be handed out near the end of the show). Please
indicate when you’d like to receive your award on the sheet posted in the studio.

COSTUMES:
Most costumes are now in. Please remember that a lot of thought and energy has been put into the creation
of these costumes. Take good care of them! Should your costumes need any adjustments our staff will
take care of them for you! Students will be able to pick up their costumes during their class times, or the
regular office hours of 3:30 - 8:30 Monday to Friday and Saturday’s 9am -1pm. Before picking up your
costume all dance fees must be caught up and the balance owing on the costume must be paid in full
(approximately $25 - $50). Please note that we now accept Visa, Mastercard and Interact as well as cash
and personal cheques.

DRESS REHEARSAL HELD AT SHOWPLACE PERFORMANCE CENTRE:

Please arrive at the theatre 20 minutes before your scheduled time (see attached) so that you are ready to
dance. Be aware the changing space is extremely limited and that the change rooms are reserved for
competitive students only (as they are in as many as 20 routines!) – recreational students are asked to come
ready in costume, and use the downstairs washrooms, and lounge area if necessary. All dancers are to
wear their hair back in a bun for ballet, or pony tail for jazz, tap etc., using lots of gel, bobby pins
and hair spray (no bangs please!), unless otherwise instructed. Those with short hair are asked to have
it pulled back as best as they can with barrettes etc. As for make-up, students are asked to wear blush,
eyeliner, mascara and lipstick etc., as the stage lights really drown out a dancers colour. No jewelry is to
be worn, and it is important that all students have the proper footwear (same shoes worn in class),
otherwise they will not be permitted on stage (due to safety issues). Beige (suntan) tights are required for
jazz and tap groups, and ballet pink tights are necessary for all ballet numbers (no underwear please!).
Proper tights and footwear are currently available through the Dancer’s Closet or our studio store,
and can be purchased when picking up your costume. If you have any additional questions regarding
make-up, footwear or tights please ask your teacher, or call the studio 741-6545. During the dress rehearsal
time on stage, parents are encouraged to take lots of photos and record the performance, as there is
absolutely NO VIDEO OR FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY DURING THE RECITAL PERFORMANCE!

DVD’S OF THE RECITAL:

Due to the overwhelming response to our shows in the past couple years we are making it possible for
parents to purchase this year’s recital professionally recorded onto DVD for $45. This is a great keepsake!
We will be taping both the Saturday afternoon and evening performances. DVD’s can be ordered by
calling the secure order line (1-416-410-1175), or by visiting their website at www.drcvideo.com/store.
Please be sure to specify which performance you’d like as the Saturday afternoon and Evening shows are
different. There is also the option of purchasing both shows for $80. No DVD’s will be sold at Showplace.
Your order must be placed before the show to ensure speedy delivery to the studio in July.

PICTURES:
Photos will be taken prior to your child’s scheduled dress rehearsal time (see following schedule for exact
times on dress rehearsal day). Order forms will be handed out in class in May. You will need one order
form for each class picture you wish to purchase. Please bring your forms, properly filled out, to dress
rehearsal. No late orders will be accepted. Parents please do not use your camera in the photo area (lower
lobby) as it interferes with the professional photographers flashes, and causes delays to our rehearsal
schedule – your understanding is appreciated.

RECITAL DAYS:
For the recital please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to curtain if you are performing within the first 10
numbers (orders for each show are attached), and use the back door ‘performers entrance’ to Showplace. If
you are dancing later in the show please allow for 2 minutes per routine when guessing what time to arrive.
Parents are to drop their children off downstairs in the lounge so that they can wait with their group and
practice before going on stage. Our backstage managers will escort each group to the stage and bring them
back downstairs once they have performed. If your child is dancing later in the show please ensure they are
downstairs and ready 10 numbers prior to their routine. Once your child has danced please come
downstairs and pick them up immediately.
** Unfortunately we cannot be responsible for dancers who miss their performance due to coming
late – please make sure you are at the theatre and ready to dance EARLY! **
The recitals are approximately 2 ½ hrs in length, and all performances will have a 10 minute intermission.
As the recitals involve many children, please feel free to come in and out of the theatre during breaks
(applause). Once dancers have performed they are free to leave – they do not have to stay until the end of
the show.
** Please note that the performances for the Thursday night and Saturday night show are different from
Friday night and Saturday matinee. Please read through the attached schedules carefully. Should you
have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the studio 741-6545 or info@premieredance.ca
Finally, when you arrive at the theatre please check the program and order posted in the lower lobby to
ensure there have been no last minute changes. **
For those who are in one or two numbers please use the downstairs washroom area to change during recital.
Only Competitive students may use the backstage changing area. For those with ‘change tents’ please limit
the number of tents (share with two or three friends), and keep them to the east side of the lounge and
AWAY FROM THE STAGE ENTRANCE AND EXIT. Remember that space is very limited and it is
recommended that dancers come prepared in costume with hair and make-up complete and ready to
perform.

VOLUNTEERS:
The studio is looking for volunteers for each performance to help supervise children in the lounge and
organize the groups in preparation to go on stage. Volunteers will be required to stay in the lounge and hall
areas during the entire performance. Please sign up at the studio bulletin board under the recital you are
able to help with. Thank you for your assistance with this huge event!

BRING A FRIEND WEEK:

The week following Recital is the last week of classes (June 7th – 13th). Students are encouraged to bring a
friend to class for free. Current students are encouraged to try any other dance classes they are interested in
that week for FREE! Please take advantage of this incredible opportunity!

* NEW * STUDENT APPRECIATION DAY:

This year on Sunday June 13th we will be having our first annual student appreciation day (in celebration of
10 years of dance at PSD)! All current members of Premiere Studio of Dance and their families are invited
to a fun filled afternoon of complimentary BBQ hotdogs and burgers, face-painting, games, bouncy castles,
magicians, and of course DANCE! Don’t miss out of this fun filled event. Our expert staff will also be on
hand to help you with any questions regarding the 2010- 2011 season. More information will be coming
soon!

FALL REGISTRATION:
This year we are once again offering a special early bird registration opportunity for all current Premiere
Studio of Dance members and their friends. During ‘Bring a Friend Week’ (June 7th -13th) you can reserve
your spot in the class(es) of your choice for next year with a $50 deposit ($10 per each additional class).
Plus you will pay NO REGISTRATION FEE!! That is an automatic savings of $25! Register early and
avoid the rush of fall! To schedule a private consultation with one of our staff regarding your child’s future
dance options please call or email the studio.

COMPETITIVE DANCING:
Interested in taking your dancing to the next level? Competition is when a group works on a routine during
the entire year and performs it against other studios in competitions throughout Ontario. Students get the
chance to work on their performance ability, grace, flexibility, overall dance technique, and create life long
memories and friendships. All competition classes are by audition (during the summer and first 3 weeks
of September 2010), and are offered to ages 5 and up. This is a wonderful time to begin competitive dance!
If you are interested in knowing more about competition or have any other questions regarding recital or
any of our upcoming dance programs please contact the studio at 741-6545, or via email at
info@premieredance.ca

SUMMER CLASSES AND CAMPS:

This year we are offering more classes and camps than ever to satisfy your dance appetite during the
summer! The summer schedule will be available through your dance teacher, or by visiting our website
(www.premieredance.ca) , and you can register any time at the studio. Remember that space is very limited
so get your forms in quickly to reserve your spot in class or summer camp! Also in the last two weeks of
June we are offering B.A.T.D. exam classes in jazz, tap, and ballet (more info coming soon). This is a
great opportunity to be rewarded by the internationally recognized British Association of Teachers of
Dancing, for achieving a superior level of dance technique. Exam classes and/or summer classes are
mandatory for ALL competitive students and are highly suggested for those interested in maintaining a
high standard in dance.

Rehearsal Schedule for TUESDAY June 1st

(Thursday and Saturday Night Recital Order)
** Please note that competitive groups are not rehearsing so that recreational dancers have more time on
stage. The Boy/Girl Dance will be rehearsed tonight ***
