Wow. Wasnt worship Sunday wonderful? What a gift

to be able to see God at work in and through the young
people of Eastminster. From the creative Call to Worship to the Spirit-filled music and from the prayers to the
preaching to the prayer placards, the young people listened
for Gods leading, thus encouraging and inspiring us all.
Thank you, young people, for leading us. Thank you Sunday School teachers, Music mentors, Youth Advisers, and
parents for living out the promises of baptism.
Who will be Eastminsters next Deacons and Elders? With Sundays congregational
meeting, our 2016 Nominating Committee is in place to begin discerning the men
and women God is calling for the class of 2019. Knowing their work will be most
fruitful with the support of your prayers and your input, please prayerfully consider
this as you look around at the people in whom you see Christ at work and share those
names with our Nominating Committee.
For guidance, 1 Peter 5:2-3 tells us, I exhort the elders among you to tend the
flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion
but willingly, as God would have you do itnot for sordid gain but eagerly. Do not
lord it over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock.
Synthesizing the teaching of Scripture, Eastminsters Nominating Committee is
told, attention should be given to (1) a Christian life that is sound in the faith and
growing; (2) demonstrated church leadership including participation through service,
pledging and attendance at public worship; and (3) personal characteristics of leadership such as ability, maturity of judgement and dedication.
To submit a name to the Nominating Committee, please mail, email or phone the
persons name and why you think they would be a good Deacon or Elder. Names
should be sent to:
Chair Mary Bett Thorne at marybett424@gmail.com or 803.738.0115.
