SPEECH
SPEECH
Keep simple and polite!
Good morning teachers and friends, I, Ihsan Hadi as the President of the Environment Club
would like to talk aboutHow to Protect the Environment
First of all, each one of us can start by not littering. We should throw our rubbish into the rubbish
bin instead of anywhere we like. Once I went strolling at a park nearby my house but was
disappointed at the sight of rubbish.I saw many empty cans and plastic wrappers lying
around. They do not only spoil the beautiful park but they are the best breeding place for aedes
mosquitoes.
Another way of protecting our environment is by keeping our rivers clean. We can play our role
by not throwing rubbish into the rivers. Meanwhile the factories can stop dumping their toxic
waste into them. Plastic wrappers which made up 80 percent of the rubbish can endanger the
fish and other aquatic lives while toxic waste can kill them. We, human will consequently suffer
as we rely on the rivers for food and water.
Moreover, farmers should avoid open burning in their farming practice because it polutes the
air.Open burning can lead to haze which contains poisonous gases such as carbon dioxide and
sulphur dioxide. These gases can cause many serious diseases. Children who breathe the
polluted air may suffer from asthma and some people may even suffer from rashes and eyediseases.
Finally, we can practice the 3R; Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Every household should aim at
reducing the amount of rubbish thrown. To achieve this aim ,each member of the household can
refuse plastic carriers when he goes shopping. He can bring a recyclable carrier or a special
shopping bag.The household members can even reuse some items like glass jar as a vase and
cans as coin box or as a pen holder.Old newspapers can also be recycled into new papers or
reused in paper crafting. If "Reuse,Reduce and Recycle" are put into practice ,the amount of
rubbish thrown and the amount of energy used to produce some of the recyclabe items can
indeed be reduced.
Clearly, each one of us can contribute towards the conservation of our environment and our
efforts should be continuous.Protecting our environment means ensuring the existence of our
future generation. With that, I thank you.
Composition:Fire
Last Friday, a fire broke out in Kampung Damai. It happened when everyone was fast asleep.
Nek Jah, the house owner, was alone in the house. Her husband and son had gone to Kuala
Lumpur for a few days to sell their farm produce. Nek Jah had a long day at her farm and so
was very tired. She wanted to drink a cup of coffee before she went to bed. She took a kettle full
of water and left it to boil.
Unfortunately, she fell asleep while waiting for the water to boil. Suddenly, she heard people
shouted fire! Fire! . She realized that she had to get out her house fast. A neighbour broke into
the house and pulled her out to safety.
The fire spread all over her wooden house very fast. A few neighbours managed to save some
of her belongings. They saved her washing machine and sofa set. Some other neighbours tried
to put out the fire. The fire brigade was called but arrived late because Kampung Damai is
located about 80 kilometres away from the fire station. Nek Jahs house was burnt down
completely but the villagers were glad that their favourite neighbour was safe.
The neighbours and everyone living in Kampung Damai promised to rebuild Nek Jahs house.
Everyone collected some money to help Nek Jah. Nek Jah was grateful to her kind neighbours.
Her husband and son were called home immediately. They were relief that Nek Jah was safe
and unhurt. They were grateful to live in a village full of people with golden heart.

Dear Sir,
Poor Quality of Food and Services at School Canteen
As Head of the Canteen Prefects, I wish to complain about the poor quality of food and services by our
school canteen.
2. First of all, there are several complaints about the lack of variety in food. The menu is the same every
day. As a result, students get bored of the same food. Students also say that the food served is tasteless
and cold. Food should be cooked and served piping hot. In addition, the food sold is unhealthy. At times it
is oily and at other times it is too salty. In the long run our health will suffer as we may end up with high
blood pressure or high cholesterol. Something needs to be done about this situation.
3. I have also noticed that the food prepared is unhygienic conditions. Most of the time cooked food is left
uncovered and the vegetables are washed on the dirty floor. Recently many students have fallen ill with
food poisoning.
4. Quite often the cutlery, that the workers say has been washed, is oily. This simply proves that the
cutlery is not washed properly.
5. Several students have complained that the canteen workers are rude. They bark at the students for no
rhyme or reason. In addition, the workers are careless when returning the change. Students are often
short-changed. This must stop.
6. Another criticism I have against the workers is that they are not properly dressed. When handling food,
workers are required to wear aprons, caps and gloves to ensure cleanliness is maintained at all times.
We hope that the school administration will attend to our complaints and take necessary action a soon as
possible. Thank you.
Yours faithfully
(Chia Meng Hui)

During the first semester holidays, my class organized a trip to Taman Negara in
Pahang. Our class teacher, Pn. Maimun, accompanied us on the trip. On 24 April, all
the students gathered in the school with our bags. The bus arrived promptly. It was
a 42-seater air-conditioned bus. Although the journey was five hours, we did not feel
tired. As soon as we arrived at our destination, we checked into a budget hotel.
After a good nights sleep, we were ready for the most exciting event the climb up
GunungTahan, the highest peak. Although the hill slopes were steep and jagged and
the hike up was a real challenge, we were excited. We enjoyed the cool, crisp
mountain air.
The view of the lush green scenery and the variety of exotic flora and fauna was a
real treat. In fact, the scenery was so beautiful that we stopped to take some
photographs. The next day, we braced ourselves for another challenging activity
the canopy walk. Although some of us were at first reluctant to walk at a height of
25 metres above the ground, we gave in after much persuasion from our class
teacher. It was a real thrilling experience to view the green jungle canopy. The
rustling of the leaves and the sounds made by the animals sounded like a strange
musical piece. The next day, we packed our things and left for home. We slept
during the entire journey as we were exhausted. Nevertheless, it was a very exciting
trip.

Model Essay
A clean and beautiful school is very important. This is to ensure that teaching and learning will take
place. Students can relax and enjoy the activities carried out in school. They can also feel comfortable
with the clean and beautiful environment. There are many ways to beautify our school.
First of all, we have to clean the classrooms by sweeping and mopping the floor. We should also clean
the dust on the window panes. We can use a feather duster or a wet cloth to clean the windows. To make
sure that everyone takes part in cleaning the class, we should prepare a duty roster. This is because we
can divide the jobs equally.
Secondly, we should also beautify our class. All the chairs and desks should be arranged properly so
that our class looks neat and tidy. A reading corner with variety of reading materials will be very useful. If
we have extra fund, we can paint the walls of our class. This will make our class more cheerful and
conducive.
We should also keep our school compound clean. We must clear the clogged drains so that the water
can flow smoothly and there will be no unpleasant smell. We can also beautify our school by painting
murals on the wall and decorate the notice boards with information about school or cocurricular activities.
Planting flowers and herbal plants can make our school environment fresh and beautiful. Motivational
phrases and slogans around the school compound can create positive atmosphere thus encourage
learning.
Finally, we should encourage everyone to keep the school clean and beautiful. We should all take part
and be responsible in keeping our school clean and beautiful.
