What is Stakeholder in an organization?

Any individual, person or organization that can have positive or negative impact on
the organization due to the activities or action taken by the organization. These are
those entities that are in an exchange relationship with the company. Each activity
or policy implemented by the company impacts the interest of the stakeholders who
in turn expect its interests to be satisfied.
Stakeholders can be categorized into Internal and External Stakeholders. The
internal and external stakeholders of State Bank of India are categorized as below.

Internal: Stakeholders within the organization like employees and


management.
External: Stakeholders outside the organization like Government, Customers,
FII.

What is Stakeholder Analysis?


Analysis done on the stakeholders of the companies to determine whose interest
would affect the implementation of policy or program in a firm. This analysis is
important because stakeholders have a major role and contribute towards the
profitability of the firm.

Why Stakeholder Analysis is crucial?


To assess the impact of the stakeholders in an organization to implement a
policy or program can done using this analysis. Stakeholder analysis helps to
understand the extent of influence of stakeholders can have and affect the risk
and viability of project/program/policy.
A stakeholder analysis can help a project or programme identify:
Stakeholders whose interests are being affected.
Probable or potential conflicts which can jeopardize the programme;
Ways to build the relationships during the programme;
Understanding the involvement of various groups;
Appropriate strategies and approaches for stakeholder engagement;
Ways to reduce negative impacts on vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
Since State Bank of India is a responsible for the public money and thus acts as a
custodian for the same. It has the responsibility and fiduciary obligation to
continue and maintain the trust of the customers in SBI. Bank understands the
importance of integrity and thus incorporates the same in each transaction.
Customers being the crucial stakeholders, most of the policies are customer
centric which can promote financial prudence.

To maintain a cordial relationship with all its stakeholders which are majorly
customers, Government of India, Employees and Management it maintains
communication channel through emails, press meets, one on one meets and
other mediums. Also through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter
they engage their stake holders and ensure their active participation.
State uses SBI as a channel of social development. Numerous schemes related
to a state and for the welfare of the society are introduced through SBI to
connect to the rural population and help their upliftment.

Employee Union is non supportive because their interest is more aligned towards
the interest of the employee. They have the power to take leverage of the
management of SBI. Hence they fall under the category of High threat and low
cooperation
