Fire-Stopping

Fire-stopping systems are used to prevent fire in a particular floor from spreading to other
floors. This is accomplished by sealing openings and joints through which fire could spread to
other floors. Basically, there are four types of openings / joints to which tested fire-stopping
systems are applied to prevent the spread of gasses, smoke and fire. These are:

Joints between construction components. These includes wall/wall, wall/floor, and

wall/ceiling joints.

Floor perimeters slab edges and exterior wall cavities.

Penetrations, including openings for mechanical, electrical, structural,

security, communications, piping and wiring circuits.

Fire-Resistant Cable Coatings

Concept of Fire-Resistant Cable Coating
Cables are prone to self-igniting locally due overheating caused by short circuiting. They can
also be overheated due to external factors such as fires. Fire-resistant cable coatings are used
to prevent the propagation of fire along internal electrical cables and to protect the
functionality of those cables .These coatings are used worldwide in a wide variety of
structures, including service tunnels, power plants, substations, and electrical and plant rooms.

Results
DicoTech offers application of spray and brush-applied fire-resistant coatings on cables and
cable-trays, preventing the spread of fire for 30 minutes and the ignition of cables for at least
40 minutes, even with a direct flame and surrounding temperature higher then 260C. The
applied coatings retard any direct flames travelling through horizontal and vertical cables and

cable trays. DicoTech offers its expertise in application of cable coatings in accordance with

Cementitious Fire-proofing
This is the most popular and economic means of fire-proofing. It involves spraying lightweight cement-based material on structural steel members to a predetermined thickness
computed as per ASTM or BS standards. This method is normally used for members that are
concealed behind false ceilings or column encasements.
DicoTech is an approved applicator for various passive fire-protection systems that include
light-weight as well as high-density materials suitable for industrial and commercial
requirements.

Intumescent Fire-proofing
This is commonly used where appearance matters most. Applied with airless spray equipment
by professionals as per UL/ASTM standards, intumescent fire-proofing offers a great deal in
terms of design freedom.
DicoTech offers expertise in the application of water-based intumescent paint systems that
enhance the beauty of exposed steel structures while providing fire resistant upto 120 minutes
as per BS 476 Part 21, upto 3 hours fire resistance as per ASTM E119, NFPA 251. The
materials used provide a durable and decorative finish that can also be top-coated to match
any aesthetic requirements.

Concrete Repairs
Reinforced concrete is robust and highly durable. However, it is sensitive to faults resulting
from design flaws, incorrect construction practices or both.
External influences such as attacks from chlorides and sulphates cause severe adverse effects
on reinforced concrete structures. These include corrosion of reinforcement and softening of

Crack Injection
Cracks in concrete structures usually signify more major problems and must not be ignored.
Cracks can cause subsoil water to leak into a faulty structure or storage water to leak out.
Furthermore, cracks can expose reinforcing steel to oxygen and moisture, hence making the
steel susceptible to corrosion. At DicoTech, these problems are tackled through the most
sophisticated systems of injection using state-of-the-art machines to completely fill the crack
either with epoxy or polyurethane resins.

Protective Coatings
Prevention is better than cure. A protective coating on a concrete structure will greatly
enhance its durability and resistance to degradation from adverse conditions, hence increasing
the lifespan significantly.

the right type of coating for any structure based on its exposure and intended usage; the

Industrial Floorings

Marine Repairs and Acid Proof Linings

Spray-on Elastomer Polyurea Coating

Elastomer polyurea are rapidly solidifying liquid based plastic sealants. They are easily spray
applied on horizontal or vertical surfaces to form a highly protective joint-free coating.
This system provides benefits such as high tearing resistance, superior elasticity, proper
filling and leveling of construction and working joints, excellent temperature resistance and
ease of repair. Its many diverse applications include tunnels, pillars, bridges, basements and
roofs.

Grouting
Proper installation of load-bearing units, underground pipes and various fixings requires voids
formed between the equipment and soil, or between load bearing units, to be thoroughly
sealed, ensuring structural stability.
Grouting is the injection of specially formulated cement, epoxy or other mixes into the
ground to improve its strength or reduce permeability. It is carried out by drilling holes into
the foundation to intercept open cracks, joints, fissures or cavities, then pumping the grouting
compound under pressure, hence sealing any voids.

Water Proofing

Substructure Waterproofing:

PVC Membranes

Compartmentalized loosely laid system for both horizontal and vertical applications. The
PVC membrane and waterstops are fused by heat welding before concrete is cast, forming
compartments.
In case of any leakage, it is confined to a compartment and stopped by injecting resin through
easy accessible reinjectable hoses.

Proofex Engage

Pre-applied HDPE waterproofing system comprising of a complex cell mesh bonded to a

polyethylene membrane which allows poured concrete to interlock with the membrane
forming a tenacious mechanical bond.

Self-Adhesive Membranes (Grace Products)

Preprufe pre-applied membranes, composite sheets comprising of robust HDPE backing,

pressure sensitive adhesive and a trafficable weather resisting coating which develop a
continuous adhesive bond to concrete and Bithuthene post-applied membranes, flexible
waterproofing membrane, combining a high performance cross laminated HDPE carrier film
with a self-adhesive rubber bitumen compound.

EPDM Membranes

Loosely laid or fully bonded system for both horizontal and vertical applications. The laps
come together either using adhesive or dual bond tapes to form a continuous watertight
membrane.

An economical option to substructure waterproofing, the bituminous membranes are torch

applied on primed concrete surface. The membranes have excellent tensile & tear strengths
and highly resistant to puncture. Flexible and suitable for applications where high structural

hotel buildings, offices and industrial buildings. Suspended ceilings are designed to
cover MEP services passing below slab and to enhance acoustic performance while

Gypsum Board Ceilings: Flat and Multilevel
Gypsum board ceilings consist of main channels, caring channels, hangers, perimeter
angles, fixed to gypsum board, taped, jointed and sanded to a smooth finish. Regular
gypsum boards are used for dry areas, moisture-resistance gypsum boards are used for
wet areas like toilets and pantries, and fire-rated gypsum boards are used as required
by specifications
Bulk Heads / Cove lights / Pelmets
Gypsum bulkheads and vertical portions of the suspended ceiling are formed to place
A/C grills, curtains, indirect lights, artificial beams and to achieve an architectural
finish. Gypsum bulkheads are formed at the termination point of the suspended
ceiling, consist of gypsum boards, furring channels and perimeter trims. They are
filled with a joint compound and then sanded to achieve a smooth final finish.
Tile ceilings 600 X 600mm
Tile ceilings are installed for architectural finish requirements and are widely used in
commercial and residential buildings. Tiled ceiling are suspended in an exposed T
grid system and triangular channel suspensions are used for concealed systems.
Tiled ceiling types include vinyl-faced gypsum tile ceilings, calcium silicate board
ceilings, GRG tile ceilings, metal tile ceiling, aluminum tile ceilings, mineral fiber tile
ceilings, acoustic tile ceilings, mirror finish tiles and micro perforated aluminum tiles.
Partition works
Gypsum board partitions are widely used in commercial and residential buildings,
industrial projects and offices. Gypsum board partitions are quick to install and
relocate, and can accommodate MEP services, while reducing load to the buildings.
Types of Partitions
Partition types include liner wall partitions, dry wall partitions for thicknesses of
75mm to 400mm with GI studs and tracks, fire-rated wall partitions, acoustic wall
partitions, staggered wall partitions, curved wall partitions and aqua panel wall
partitions.
These partitions are used for separation walls, internal walls, thermal wall insulations,
fire rated walls and acoustic-purpose walls.
