Use the page below as a page of your diary. Fill in your activities for one imaginary
week during the school holidays. Of course, you must write in Indonesian.
For example, under Friday you might write: Pesta di rumah Sally jam delapan

write an activity for every afternoon, or every night. Keep it realistic. Keep some
days totally free, and some half days free.

Now work with a partner and pretend you are having a telephone conversation.
You have telephoned your friend to invite him/her on an outing, perhaps to
the movies, or to the beach, or to a discotheque. Consult your diaries to find a
convenient time when you are both able to go. Be sure to use the language
functions you have learnt for making, accepting and declining invitations. Swap
partners and repeat the exercise several times.

Your teacher will provide you with a small card which shows an activity in which
you are interested. Somebody in the class is interested in the same thing. You need
to find that person by moving around the classroom and asking in Indonesian
whether other people in the class are interested in the same activity. For example,
if you have a card showing that you are interested in basketball, you would ask
Apa kamu tertarik akan bola basket? The other student has to answer either Ya,
saya tertarik akan bola basket or Tidak, saya tidak tertarik akan bola basket.
When you have found your partner sit down together and create a short role play
in which you suggest to the other person that you do something related to the

Perfect match!
Your teacher will provide you with a small card which gives details about you, as
well as details about the person you would consider your perfect match. (If there is
an unequal number of boys and girls in the class some people might need to
pretend that they are the opposite sex.)
When you have your card, move around the room asking other students whether
they are male or female, how old they are and whether they like certain activities.
There will be one person in the room who has the exact details that you are looking
for, and who is also looking for somebody with the exact characteristics which you
have. This person is your perfect match ... you have found your date! When you
have found your date, sit down together and prepare a role-play conversation in
which you arrange to go on a date together next weekend.
