PARKING AT FIRST PRES

Part of making our church a welcoming place for guests is
to make our campus as accessible as possible.
And the good news is, the church shares ownership in a
parking garage across the street, and helps to maintain
it so you can easily find free parking every Sunday and
during the week.
We leave street and on-campus parking for visitors, seniors
and those who need extra accessibility to the buildings.
If you are a church member and would like to purchase
a parking card for the church garage for $10, please stop
by the lobby desk at Edington Ministry Center during the
week.

NOTES

traditional
W O R S H I P

Added to the cross this day is a robe of mockery.

We read in the Scriptures where the Roman soldiers
mercilessly flogged Christ, put a crown of thorns on his
head, beat him on the head, spit on him, put a robe on
him, and knelt before him mocking him as King of Israel.
Its interesting that those who mocked Christ used the
same words as the devil in Jesus temptation at the onset
of his public ministry. Those words of challenge to Jesus
identity were ...if you are the Son of God. This phrase
appears at the beginning and again at the ending of
Jesus mission on earth. Both came as a taunt from the
kingdom of this world. In the first instance Jesus replied
to the prince of this world, the devil, with the words
of Scripture, It is written In the second occurrence,
he answered the mocking taunt with the Resurrection!
Unknowingly, the soldiers did indeed put a robe upon
the King of kings and the Lord of all lords. And the day
will come when they will again kneel before the King of
kings. As Paul writes, Therefore God exalted him to the
highest place and gave him a name that is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow
in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every
tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of
God the Father. He is the one weve come to worship
this day.
