From Death to Life, Part 4 (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign,

Day 57)
TEXT: John 5:26-29
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the
Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also,
because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that
are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the
resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the
resurrection of damnation.
---------Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic
Campaign sermon series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ with unbelievers and reminding
Christians, in this important election year, to keep the main thing
the main thing -- and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the
problem in America is not only disobedient presidents
politicians, and people, but disobedient pastors, preachers, and
parishioners who have refused to obey the Lords Great
Commission which is to, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations
and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands to
"pray without ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political
leaders. Yes, you should pray for the right candidate to win; yes,
you should vote for the candidate that the Lord gives you peace

about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it like the world does.
Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get
their hearts right with the Lord.
This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1
Corinthians 2:2 which says, "For I determined not to know
anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." Acts
5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every house,
they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2
Timothy 2:4 which says, "No man that warreth entangleth himself
with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath
chosen him to be a soldier."
This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope
you are one of those saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old
story of Jesus and His love" -- As another hymn says, "For those
who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the
rest." This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear
and understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the
punishment of sin which is hell. This is message number 57.
C.S. Lewis said, "What is the good of saying you are on God's
side when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a
dream, and something else -- something that never entered your
head to conceive -- comes crashing in; something so beautiful to
some of us, and so terrible to others, that none of us will have
any choice left? It will be too late then to choose your side. There
is no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become
impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing; it
will be the time when we discover which side we have really
chosen, whether we realized it before or not. Now, today, this
moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding

back, to give us that chance. It will not last forever. We must take
it or leave it."
After all that the Jewish religious leaders had heard from Jesus,
you can imagine the shocked looks on their faces. Here was a
man who, in no uncertain terms, told them that He was God, that
He had authority over the Law, and that He had authority over
their lives and their eternal destiny. There was something about
the way He said these things that made them realize He was
serious. Under other circumstances, they would have dismissed
Him as a lunatic at best or immediately dragged Him off to be
whipped or stoned for blasphemy at worst. But, they didn't. They
stood there listening to Jesus talking -- and, notice, they didn't
interrupt Him here.
They were completely astounded, so much so, that Jesus had to
tell them, "Marvel not at this." 'Don't be amazed, don't be
shocked by what I have just told you. It's the truth.'
Then He goes on to shock them again, saying, "For the hour is
coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth..." Speaking of the end times, Jesus says
He will do one of the things that the Jews ascribed to God's
authority alone -- raising the dead. Near the end of history, Jesus
will command the dead from all generations to come out of their
graves to face judgment and resurrection. "They that have done
good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil,
unto the resurrection of damnation."
The important question today is: Which resurrection will you be a
part of?
Now, it might sound like the resurrection that you are a part of is
determined by your works -- "they that have done good" and

"they that have done evil." But if we square this with all of the
Gospel of John (and all of the Bible), we see that this is not the
case. The "good" works and "evil" works spoken of here stem
from a person's decision to accept or reject Jesus Christ.
Accepting Christ is a good work, and all that is done under
Christ's influence is good. Rejecting Christ is an evil work, and
all that is done under the influence of the flesh and the devil is
evil.
Dr. John Walvoord and Roy Zuck wrote in their commentary on
this passage: "Those who are truly born again do live a different
kind of life. They obey Jesus, they abide in Him, and they walk in
the light. They are saved by the Lamb of God who, as their
substitutionary sacrifice, takes away the penalty of sin. Salvation
is by faith in Christ. Damnation is because of rejection of God's
Son."
Everyone, those saved and lost, will live forever. They will be
called forth, given resurrection bodies, and sent either to a place
of eternal bliss or eternal punishment. The Bible Exposition
Commentary points out that those who have rejected Christ will
be resurrected at the end of time before this world is destroyed
to make way for a new one. They "will be given resurrection
bodies -- but not glorified bodies -- that they might be judged and
then suffer punishment in those bodies. Bodies that were used
for sin will suffer the consequences of that sin."
However, those who accept Jesus Christ will be called forth from
their graves at the Rapture, before the seven-year period of
tribulation and judgment on earth. These believers will be given
new, resurrection bodies. Wiersbe goes on to say, "Keep in mind
that resurrection is not reconstruction. It does not imply that God
puts the pieces back together again. The resurrection body is a

new body, a glorified body, suited to the heavenly environment.

Death is not the end for the believer, nor will he live in heaven as
a disembodied spirit. God saves the whole person, and this
includes the body."
There you have it: No matter how you live your life, you will be
called out of your grave by Jesus Christ. You will be given a new
body to face your eternal future. Today, you can decide whether
that future will be eternal life or eternal damnation. If you want to
make sure that you are not a part of those who will be
resurrected to damnation, I encourage you to accept Jesus
Christ as your Savior today. Heres how:
1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken
God's law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a
just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not." Romans
3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of
God." In fact, I am the chief of sinners, so don't think that you're
alone.
2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states
in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death"
3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ
said in Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but
are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to
destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible says in Revelation
21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and
all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire
and brimstone: which is the second death."
4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself!
The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved

through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of

works, lest any man should boast."
5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love
yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ
said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life."
6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your
heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the
book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." "For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly
Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad
things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my
sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for
me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my
heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross,
was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on
doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus
Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help
you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light
