My experiences and the leelas that I witnessed during this trip to

India::
My this trip to India was much more interesting than what I had planned or
anticipated. It was definetly filled with leelas and miracles of Saibaba. I went to
Shirdi on Ramnavami and I not only had a very good darshan over there but I
also attended the Aarti as a VIP.Thanks to the two messengers of Sai without
whom I would have been totally lost. They helped me in every possible way to
make sure that I get whatever I needed in Shirdi and Baba thru them made sure
that I am able to do everything in Shirdi to my hearts content. Infact at one point,
one of them wandered and said to the other- I have never met Deepa before but I
wander why am I doing all this !!!!!!!!... He carried on his shoulders 700 plus Sai
Vrat Katha books and other stuff that I had purchased and walked bare foot from
Dwarkamai to Prasadalaya. It was abt 10:30 pm and they made sure that I safely
reached my hotel and on the Ramnavami day before saying good bye to me-They
presented me with a big framed picture of Baba which was one of a kind and not
easy to get. It seems they had got that picture for some other devotee but that
devotee never showed up.. Ofcourse, to me this was a leela of Sai - I had tears in
my eyes when I saw that picture cos just before leaving for India-- I had sent a
very big picture of Sai to a father whose daughter was not feeling well and in my
mail to Him- I had written to him that Sai is coming to ur house!!!! And there I
was in Shirdi on Ramnavami day and a Sai bhakt presented me with Babas big
picture -- I felt as if Baba is coming with me to my house. May be it was a blessing
from the heart of that father that Sai has come to my house or perhaps it was a
blessing from Sai that on Ramnavami day He showered His grace on me. No
matter what the truth is but when ever I see that pic in my house in my temple -I
just say to myself -Great is Baba and even greater are his leelas. Inspite of the
huge crowds of devotees everywhere, I also was able to do the Satyanarayan pooja
and do everything else that I normally do in Shirdi. This reminds me of another
leela that happened the next day after Ramnavami .I woke up at 7:30 am or so
and the first thing that came to my mind was that I wish I could do the
Satyanarayan pooja so I hurried to the sansthan to get the parchi for the 8:30am
pooja but when I reached there - I was told that there was no place-the hall was
full and they could give me the parchi only for the pooja that will be at 1:30 in the
afternoon.I knew I can not attend the 1:30 pooja cos by then I had to leave for
Mumbai.I had completely lost hope and just then Sai alone knows what
happened-it was like Sai Commanded and the person sitting way inside the office
suddenly instructed the clerk to give me the parchi for 8:30 am ... I was so so so
happy- I immediately got the parchi and ran to the place where the pooja was
going to be held -it was already 8:30 by then -when I reached the hall- the guy
inside the hall saw my parchi and gave me the seat in the very first front row and
I sat just across the pandit who was performing the pooja..
Many leelas kept happening during this trip to Shirdi.Out of which one also
happened on Ramnavami during the day. I had never ever met or seen or even
spoken personally to the designer of the above Sai Picture whom I often refer as
the True Sai Devotee.....But on that day, I met him in Shirdi outside Dwarkamai-
of course that meeting was planned --- anyways, we both then went to Shri Abdul
Baba's cottage which you see in the below picture and sat there to chat. But before
entering Abdul Baba's cottage, I saw everyone eating pulao outside Dwarkamai. It
sure looked tasty so even I wanted to have that prasad but could not find who was
distributing it.Anyways, Is it possible that you sit in Baba's Darbaar on
Ramnavami day and you go without eating the Prasad??? Nope Not Possible!!!!
Anyways, The true Sai devotee who designs the pictures everyday for the Shirdi
Sai Speaks mails and I were chatting in Abdul Baba's cottage and suddenly the
person who was distributing the pulao came inside with her dish-- filled the plate
with pulao and offered it to us. Vow!!! What more could I ask !! Nobody knew
except Sai, that I was dying to have that tasty pulao and there it was in my
lap..Baba's Prasad to me along with jalebi and udi while sitting in Abdul Babas
cottage!! To others, this may be a co incidence but to me they are leelas which
make me feel as if Sai is with us at every step we take .

This is the picture of Abdul Baba's cottage which is across Chavdi. The name of
Abdul Baba is prominent amongst the Muslims who were ardent devotees of
Sadguru Shri Sai Maharaj. It was around 1989-90 that Abdul Baba first arrived in
Shirdi. His age was around 19-20 years. The moment Abdul Baba set his foot in
the Masjid, Sai Baba was overjoyed and spontaneously uttered, „„Mera Kauwa
Aaya (My crow has come) !” This appears to have some relation with the story of
Dr. Pillay which appears in Adhyay 34 of Shri Sai Satcharita. The doctor‟s leg had
contacted a disease called Naaru. Sai Baba had told the doctor that “Now the
crow will come and nibble with his beak.” And so it happened - Abdul Baba
accidentally stepped on the wound, it burst open and the contaminated blood
flowed out. The doctor was confused and asked Baba, “Will a crow again pierce
the wound with his beak ?” Baba replied, “No ! He came just now and touched
your wound with his leg.”

Abdul Baba had a earnest desire that, every moment of his life, he should be able
to use his mortal body in service of Sadguru Shri Sai Nath. To achieve this goal of
his life, he was willing to do any sort of work. Dasya Bhakti was seeped in every
pore of his body. It was the only aim of his life. While Shri Sai Baba was in the
mortal form, there was a tremendous strain of work on Abdul Baba. But, he did
all the chores with pleasure - washing Baba‟s clothes at the village brook, cleaning
the path on which Baba traveled, cleaning the Masjid and Chavdi, fill oil in the
lamps and light them, bring water for Baba‟s bath as well as for Him to drink etc.
At times, Abdul Baba even cleaned the toilets. Therefore, with great affection,
Baba sometimes referred to him as Halalkhor (Bhangi)/ Mariambi.
Abdul Baba looked after the maintenance of Nandadeep at the Lendi Baug. Baba
followed a practice of sitting behind the lamp. Abdul Baba always accompanied
Baba there. He then filled water in to Ghagari. Baba watered the garden with
these. Only Abdul Baba alone accompanied Him at such times.
Abdul Baba‟s was steadily progressing on the path of Vairagya due to the Sahavas
of his Sadguru and the Adhyayan carried under His guidance. In those days, he
resided in a stable near the Masjid. At nights, he slept with Baba in the Chavdi.
During the day time, besides carrying out his daily chores, he sat in the Masjid
and recited the holy Quran. Many times, Baba directed him to recite specific parts
of Quran while sometimes, - as Baba knew Arabic language - Baba taught or
reeled out the part by heart.
Throughout the night, Abdul Baba slept very lightly - as he wanted to be alert and
promptly attend to Baba‟s needs. Therefore, during the day time, sometimes he
was unable to control his sleep and dozed while reciting Quran. Baba used to say
- “Abdulla, control your sleep ! Eat a little less ! Think over the part you are
reading ! Think who you are !”
Abdul Baba narrated a very touching incident in this regard. “One night, I was
extremely tired and was unable to control my sleep. I held my head in both hands
and tried to get over my sleep. Seeing this, Baba said, „Are you trying to see the
moon ?‟ That night ultimately I almost collapsed on Baba Who was sleeping on a
mattress. Baba affectionately patted me on my leg. I woke up. Next night, to wash
my face I took some water in my palms and I really saw the moon in that water.
Whatever Baba had said earlier had come out to be true.”

Abdul Baba had great faith in each and every word uttered by Baba. Therefore, he
noted down (in Devnagari or Modi) several sentences spontaneously uttered by
Baba from time to time, with Baba‟s prior permission in his diary of 137 pages.
That is his gospel known to us as Sai Quaran . Later on, if someone posed a
question or was in difficulties, Abdul Baba referred to one of the pages of his Sai
Quran. He always got the answer that he was seeking.
This is an event after Baba‟s Mahasamadhi. A well had been dug in Baba‟s
Mandir; but its water was muddy. Some one posed this question to Abdul Baba.
As per his usual practice, he opened a page of his diary and said, “Dig further two
feet deep and you will find sweet water.” And so it happened.
One more such experience. Barrister Annasaheb Gadgil‟s son had gone abroad.
The father enquired, “Whether my son will return back to India ?” Abdul Baba
referred his diary and replied, “He will return.” And really he returned with his
wife and children within no time.
After the Mahanirvan of Shri Sai Baba, Abdul Baba lived for 36 years and passed
away on 2nd April 1954.
During his lifetime Shri Abdul Baba had attained Sahaj Samadhi Avastha. After
demise, he continues to be in the Sahavas of Sai Baba, as his Samadhi is at the
entrance to Lendi Baug.

Not a Probing Mind but a Pure Mind

No one can completely grasp the mystery of God. There is as big a difference
between Heaven and Earth as between our limited intelligence, thinking and the
path of heavenly vision. In order to realize God, either searching Him or singling
out His Omnipresence or installing Him in a particular place is not possible. It
would be better to desist from such futile attempts. To have firm faith in Baba
who is the Living God visible to our eyes and apply His teachings in our lives is
the right method. Baba laid emphasis on austerity and purity. Time and again
Baba proved that by neither reading the scriptures nor by scientific research or
even by dry logic can God be realized. One should give up logical debate, futile
research and become an innocent child. Then, our heart becomes pure and
selfless and can easily grasp Baba. The taste of sugar will instantly be felt on the
palate. No knowledge, test or research is needed. The books on sugar making,
scientific principles and equipment can only help produce sugar, but can never
reveal its sweetness. Instead of searching for God, it is better to know oneself
through soul-searching. Then, Baba within us will be felt. Don't regret that you
have wasted time in searching for Baba who dwells within you. Unalloyed bliss
can be an experience when you love Baba with a pure heart and sense His
presence within you.

In these past couple of days, I have received many emails from Sai
devotees who wanted to know more about Abdul Baba's Sai Quran. At
first, I did not have much info abt it but just when I sat down to
compose this mail- I started doing some research and one by one it
was like Sai himself showing the light towards the information abt the
very sacred writings of the Sai Quran.
Its true whether one believes it or not but every moment, every new
step, every new lesson, every emotion, every new day and much more
that we witness in our lives is a Sai leela . It is Baba who at every step
shows us that He is always with us but it is we who try to act
oversmart and fail to notice Him and His miracles around us.. The
below mail and the pictures are one of the leelas that I witnessed
today.....
The above pic is of Shri Shirdi Saibaba with His devotee Abdul Baba
Here is more info abt Sai Quran-
Now first of all what is Sai Quran?
You might have read & heard that Abdul Baba was told to read Quran daily/
regularly.... He used to read it sitting beside Baba... When Baba used to sleep in
the Chavdi or in Dwarkamai.. Ok??... Now Baba used to tell him meaning of lines
from Quran OR How to read them... understand them... You got it till now???
Now what Abdul baba used to do when Baba used to tell him the meaning of
lines???.... He used to write down/pen down instantly what Baba has said on the
pages of the Quran itself just beside the lines which Baba had explained
Later Abdul Baba's Quran was very helpful in solving the problems of bhakt's
who went to shirdi even after Baba's Samadhi..Baba's bhakts used to ask for
solution to their problems & Abdul baba used to just turn the page of his
Quran. And whatever written on that page was considered as answer from Baba
itself. According to Sri Narasimhaswamy, This was the 'Book of Prophecy'
through which Sai Baba's message and guidance could be obtained.
Later somebody published the lines/quotes from Abdul baba's Quran and named
that book as SAI QURAN.It is a very rare book..You won't find it easily
anywhere..Because I think after 2 or 3 editions the publishers stopped publishing
it.Half of that book is in Urdu and half in Hindi..But then Thanks to the efforts of
Dr. Marianne Warren, Abdul's notes have been fully translated and published in
her book - "Unraveling the Enigma - Shirdi Sai Baba in the Light of
Sufism" published by Sterling Publishers, India. In foreword to the book
Dr. N.K.Wagle of University of Toronto says: "Dr. Marianne Warren's work is the
first scholarly attempt to provide a historical context to Sai Baba's teachings. An
equally original point argued convincingly by Dr. Warren concerns Sai Baba's
knowledge of Islamic Theology. Dr. Warren has translated the Saibaba
manuscript in which Sai Baba gave discourses on Islamic history and thought to
his pupil, Abdul, his personal attendant, whose tomb rests near Sai Baba's
shrine". For Devotees who want to advance spiritually, and are looking for gems
to collect as Baba used to say, these sayings are invaluable and should be taken as
word personally spoken to each one of us without any prejudice, argument,
discussion or controversy.

Abdul's notes on Sai Baba's teachings:

Page 12: The religious emotion is purely spiritual. Only secondarily it relates to
the material world. O Parvardigar! - Universal Sustainer. O God! O Habib! - My
Beloved! What we see in this material state is not real because you cannot
understand it through the intellect or by inference. Those who consider the spirit
as without beginning, this opinion is incorrect because thinking itself is not
permanent. And life is the real thing. The body is subordinate to it... Page 14 : To
understand the true form of God is difficult. In the Qur'an, it is forbidden to
picture God with form. If you walk on the path of righteousness, then you will not
feel the need for it. It requires great effort to walk on the path [of righteousness]
i.e. tapas. When a person practices taps (riyajat), divine insight (ma'rifa) will
automatically come. A sura from the Qur'an says something to this effect, Ajjain
jahidu fina tabulana riyajat - He who performs tapas, I regard him to be on the
path. It would not be proper to give him full knowledge about it. But before you
proceed on the path of Allah, you must discipline the mind. It is strategic to
strengthen the defenses, with fortifications. If an army does not move how can
the war of righteousness be fought. O dear friend! Know this that the body is the
kingdom of the heart. Do not think that the heart has many armies. The Qur'an
says: Maya alam rabbuk janud ilahu - The army of Allah, do not think that it has
to besiege the mind/heart. The heart is created for the realization of God. To find
the way to attaining a vision of God is a man's true task. For the vision of God,
divine sight is necessary.
Page 20: [Similar to page 12 but longer and written at a different time] Religious
emotion in full is purely spiritual. It is not material. Secondly it means that you
will see the world as material or only relatively real (until you have a vision of
God). Parvardigar! O Dear One!., O Dear One! the material (relative state) world
is unreal. There is no place for intellect and inference. Those who regard the
spirit as without beginning, this is not true. It is wrong to address the spirit
because it is dependent on others. The real form of man is prana - life force. The
body is under the control of prana. The people who equate the spirit with the
body are wrong. The body is impermanent. Animals also have a spirit, which is
also impermanent, called dil or heart, which seeks the mercy of God.

Unravelling The Enigma – Shirdi Sai Baba In The Light Of Sufism
In the book, Dr Warren brings two new pieces of scholarship to the subject. First
she elucidates the English translation of part of the works of some 17th and 18th-
century Maharashtrian Sufi poet-saints-their contribution having hitherto been
neglected by scholars. Their lives and writings echo the life and teachings of Sai
Baba. Secondly, she includes the English translation of the previously
untranslated Urdu notebook, jotted down by Abdul, Sai Baba‟s faqiri pupil, from
teachings based on the Qur‟an given to him by his pir Sai Baba. Both these
contributions allow us to se into a word hitherto closed, and expand our
awareness of the famous miracle-worker of Shirdi.

I did some research and found that this book can be found at

Shed Your Ego and Praise the Lord

Humans are usually influenced by the power of vices like lust, anger, greed,
passion, pride and envy. If arrogance is added to these six enemies of man, their
life will be in ruins. Ignorant people boast of their limited scholarship, name,
fame, and genius and move around with pride and arrogance. They forget that
their talent is gifted by God as a result of their good deeds done in their past lives.
To show the right path to such people, Baba incarnated in the human
form. However great a singer might be, if he or she thinks, "there is no singer like
me" he or she will not blossom into a master singer, but faces their own downfall,
ego-bloated. Voice sounds croaking. Ego is like darkness. Hence, in whatever art
a person excels, it should be treated as a boon of God. Nana Chandorkar prided
himself as a great scholar. He assumed that he had a clear grasp of the teachings
of Bhagvad Geeta. He thought that Baba had no knowledge of Sanskrit and
therefore not familiar with real teachings. But Baba asked him to explain the
meaning of "knowledge" from a verse in Geeta by substituting the word
'ignorance'. Nana fumbled. Baba made it crystal clear by shedding some light on
the verse. Nana, on knowing his fault, beseeched Baba's pardon. Thus, Baba, the
Omniscient, can humble the ego and pride of His devotees and enlighten them.

Since many yrs, I have been getting a lot of mails from Sai devotees ,
requesting to share my experiences regarding Shri Shirdi Saibaba and
I always replied back that I will surely do so the day Sai permits me ..
With Sai's permission, I am sharing some of the leelas that I
witnessed during my trip to Shirdi in 2010...
For those who missed the first part -Here is the link
http://www.scribd.com/doc/30411550
Below is the continuation of that mail....
It is believed that No one can leave Shirdi until Baba Permits and
ofcourse, I have witnessed that in my life many times .This time
during my visit to Shirdi during Ramnavami of 2010 ,a similar thing
happened.I had a very nice darshan on the Ramnavami day and I was
also lucky enough to attend the aarti. On the next day, with the grace
of Sainath- I was also able to do the Satnarayan pooja and get a couple
of chaddars from the auction as requested by a couple of Sai devotees.
I had finished all my work and headed to exit the Sansthan gate and
leave for mumbai but on that last day, I did not go to Dwarkamai or
Samadhi mandir.
However, Sai had not yet given me permission to leave the premises. I
exited from the Shirdi Sansthan gate and the second I did that--
something in my heart said that I have to go back in since I did not get
anything from Shirdi for my best friend. The voice inside me was so
loud that I could not stop myself- I turned back to get in but that was
the exit gate near the Samadhi mandir so no one was allowed to get in
from that gate. But I requested that havaldar that I just came out and I
have forgotten something so it was very kind of him to let me in once
again.Anyways, Things have changed a lot in Shirdi now and the gates
really confuse me-as I was heading back in the opposite direction of
the crowd-By mistake , I entered another entry which led me straight
to the steps which led to the Samdhi Mandir. It was the very end of the
Samadhi mandir where people were doing just a quick darshan and
tears started rolling down my eyes when I noticed that even though I
am standing way in the end but I am in Samadhi Mandir paying my
respects to Baba and asking him the permission to leave Shirdi.
Although I had already exited from the gate but Sainath called me
back to give me His Blessed Darshan.

Anyways ,with Baba in my heart- I proceeded to the place where the

auction is held to get a chaddar for my best friend. But unfortunately
just as I reached there , the auction got over. I inquired from the
person who was conducting the auction if he had any more that I
could purchase and he directed me to the room where I could buy the
chaddars that were touched by Baba's samadhi but when I went there,
there was just 1 small chaddar left by the grace of SAI and obviously, I
got my hands on it. I paid for it and Sai knows what got into me that I
gave the clerk my best friends name to type on the receipt.
After that , I noticed that there was a Sterling Silver coin and a gold
pendant of Baba on sale too over there. I got so attracted towards
those two things that without any second thought, I went ahead and
purchased that for myself. But just when I was coming out-I saw the
receipt for the silver coin and the gold pendant and to my surprise, it
had my best friends name on it.- The clerk had forgotten to ask my
name when he was making the second and third receipt and I
completely forgot that I needed to give him my name for those 2
articles.... At this point , I realized what exactly had just happened and
I had just witnessed another leela of Baba..
For you to understand the leela behind this let me share an incident
with you that happened last year---- Since abt 19 yrs or so, I had been
carrying a small purse which had all my lucky tokens- Those lucky
tokens were so dear to me that no matter where I went-- Mexico,
Thailand, Dubai, Canada, Alaska, India -- I took them with me. I even
carried them everywhere in my routine life and even if I changed my
big purse still I made sure that the small lucky token purse is always
with me. It had a small gold pendant of Baba which my dad had
bought for me in Shirdi when I went with him last before coming to
States 17-18 yrs ago. Since my dad is no more, that pendant was very
close to my heart.
That visit to Shirdi with my dad abt 17-18 yrs ago, itself was a miracle--
- I still remember, I had got my visa to usa and I was very excited to go
to states and meet my hubby and start my married life.I booked my
ticket for the first available date and was all set to fly.I had said good
bye to all my friends and relatives .However, on the day, I was
suppose to leave from India- I got a call from Air India saying that the
pilots have gone on some kind of indefinite strike and the flight had
been cancelled until further notice.Oh ! I was so frustrated. But my
dad who was an ardent devotee of Sainath saw the good in it and said
to me that lets go to Shirdi..We will return in 1 day.You are going so
far, u should take Baba's blessings before starting ur new life.So Papa
and me, both headed for Shirdi and there he got me that gold
pendant. We went to the Samadhi mandir and made the priest touch
the pendant at Baba's feet and at His sacred Samdhi.I seeked Baba's
blessings-took His permission to leave India and then as soon as I
came back- I flew that very same day to states. It was a pure leela of
Sai where He made me come to Shirdi just the day I was suppose to
leave for states.

Anyways, that very same gold pendant was in that lucky token small
purse of mine along with a sterling silver coin which one of my well
wishers had given from Siddhi Vinayak abt 15-16 yrs ago.In that lucky
token purse, there was also a 1 Rupee note with the numbers 786
written in the serial number which was given to me by this very same
best friend many many yrs ago whom I had got the chadar for...786 is
believed to be a lucky number for any muslim .Neither my friend nor
me r a muslim but since we both have been a Sai devotee since our
child hood days-- We have faith in all religions. Baba always said
'Allaah Maalik hai' .. Anyways, that small lucky token purse which had
some other stuff besides this- had got stollen last year. Since the time,
that purse was stollen, I had become so scared that all my confidence
had started wearing off.I would start crying on the smallest problem.
I am in the medical field and seeing blood was so normal for me but
after that lucky token purse got stollen -the sight of blood made me
nervous. I was sentimentally attached to that purse because it was
filled with blessings and well wishes of my loved ones.It always made
me feel protected and it gave me all the confidence and showed me the
light that lead to the path of God.

Coming back to my trip to Shirdi in 2010-The miracle that happened

after the U turn that I took for my best friend after leaving the
Sansthan gate made me seek Baba's blessings and permission before
leaving Shirdi. Baba also made me get- the sterling silver coin from
the Shirdi Sansthan along with the gold pendant with Baba's picture
on it and on the receipt was my best friends name on it instead of my
name.. I realized that Baba gave me back the lost sterling silver coin
of siddhivinayak along with the gold pendant of sai which my dad had
given to me with the well wishes of my best friend .Baba gave me back
my lucky tokens and once again I bloom with the self confidence with
the faith that no matter where I go and what I do -- Sai is always with
me and even if I loose something- He will surely give it back to me if I
truly deserve it..Once again My Salute to Baba and His leelas!!!
Suicide is Most Sinful
One of the noblest ideals is to protect and serve all beings. When a service is
selflessly rendered, the spirit of service grows gradually in us. Our heart yearns to
reach God as a first step in the spiritual pilgrimage. However, many people
become tense and stressful as a result of their urge to grow healthier, wealthier
and happier at any cost.No one can get what all he or she wants to get in a short
span of life. Happy life is to feel satisfied with what one gets and live in
compromise. People who have compromised thus will direct their attention
towards God. But, some people treat their troubles as formidable hurdles and
foolishly decide to commit suicide as they are depressed with their ill-health or
disappointed by not getting their desires fulfilled. Here, 'soul' means "self".
Killing one's own body tantamount to murder. We have to protect, nurture and
reach God through the body which is a gift of God. We have no right to kill it.
Baba stopped a chronic patient from committing suicide. We have to bear the
brunt of sins committed in the past births, seek shelter at Sai's Feet and liberate
ourselves from the bondage to make life meaningful. But, killing one's own self is
not a remedy to escape from misery. We should realize that taking refuge at Sai's
Feet is a solution to all mundane problems.
Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu

Gurur Devoh Maheshwar;

Gurur Shakshat Parambramha

Tashmai Shri Gurur Veh Namah"

May the Merciful Sri Sai Baba always shower His grace on us and our families
and remove our problems and anxieties by giving us all - strength , goodluck,
success and happiness with peace of mind.
Sai bhakt,
Deepa H
