RUG Weighted
Patient Day
RUG Weighted Patient Days (RWPD) is the method the Ontario Ministry
of Health will determine a nursing homes’ funding level. The Canadian Every Thursday at
Institute for Health Information sends to the home a RWPD report so that 10 am – 11 am
homes may correct data in a given fiscal year. It is vital that nursing
homes understand several key functions with the RWPD method for:
Unassesed patient Days, Assumed Discharges, LOA, Hospital Visits and
Late Assessment Days.
Knowing how RWPD leads to your facilities Case Mix Measure (CMI) will
help you to ensure that you have an optimal level of funding in the
coming years

“I enjoy working in MED e-care as the screens are bright and colorful. The
fonts are great in size which makes it easy to focus. From the first day I was
trained I realized immediately that I would like this program… It is a
forgiving program and errors can be modified with ease. Once the basic
training is completed one has no problem following the screens to
complete each task. The support staff is always there to assist and is
extremely friendly.”

“As I reflect on our decision to implement the Mede- Care iMAR system a year ago, I
Bonnie Uhryn cannot but feel, privileged to have partnered with your company. Your personal
RAI Coordinator commitment and your staff’s dedication to further e-documentation in health care, is most
Trent Valley Lodge refreshing in these days of close competitions in health care technology.
Your iMAR module is very user friendly and it enabled our most skeptical, computer
illiterate and casual nurses to master its navigation system in a very short period of time,
with minimal training and support.”
