I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. identify the steps in creating a clipping mask using text;
2. create their own artistic clipping mask using their desired profession in the future as the
text in the image; and
3. reflect on their strengths, skills and interests to realize their own self-worth and goals in
the future.

The students will be asked to analyze the combination of pictures and
letters that will lead them to the following words:
2.1. background image
2.2. clipping image
2.3. text layer
3. Raising of the Problems
3.1. What is a clipping mask?

3.2. What can a clipping mask do in designing a text?


B. Presentation
1. Clipping Mask
2.1. A clipping mask lets you use the content of a layer to mask the layers above
it.
2.2. The masking is determined by the content of the bottom or base layer.
2.3. This particular technique allows you to fill shapes, text, or any other layer in
Photoshop with another layer.
3. Steps in creating a clipping mask using text.
3.1. In Photoshop, open up the background image you plan on adding the text
over.
3.2. Open up the image that youd like to mask the text with.
3.3. Add the text to your background image.
3.4. Move the clipping image onto the background image.
3.5. Be sure that your clipping image layer is above the text layer.
3.6. Right click on the clipping image layer the one on top of the text layer
and select Create Clipping Mask.
3.7. Even though the image is clipped to the text, you can still move the ocean
image around independently of its text layer, making it larger, smaller, or simply
adjusting what part of the image you want to appear in the text.
C. Application
1. The students will be asked to group themselves where each group have 5 members.
They will have a group sharing following the guide questions below:
1.1. What are your strengths?
1.2. What are your skills?
1.3. What activities interests you?
1.4. What profession would you like to pursue in the future?
2. After realizing their desired profession in the future, they will use it as a text to create
a clipping mask on Adobe Photoshop.

The students work will be evaluated through the following rubrics:

D. Generalization
Make the students recall the steps in creating a clipping mask using text in
Adobe Photoshop.
