Worlds

of  North  and  South  Project  Rubric

Knowledge  of  Topics  &  Understanding  of  Historical  Significance

• Excellent
o Student(s)  provide  exceptional  explanations  and  notable  insight  that
demonstrate  in-‐depth  understanding  of  the  differences  between  the  North
and  South  and  how  those  differences  could  negatively/positively  impact
future  relations  between  these  two  sections  of  the  country.
• Good
o Student(s)  provide  satisfactory  explanations  that  demonstrate  the
differences  between  the  North  and  South  and  how  those  differences  could
negatively/positively  impact  future  relations  between  these  two  sections  of
the  country.
• Fair
o Student(s)  provide  limited  explanations  that  demonstrate  some
understanding  of  the  differences  between  the  North  and  South  and  how
those  differences  could  negatively/positively  impact  future  relations
between  these  two  sections  of  the  country.
• Poor
o Student(s)  provide  no  explanations,  or  the  explanations  are  weak  and
demonstrate  a  very  limited  understanding  of  the  differences  between  the
North  and  South  and  how  those  differences  could  negatively/positively
impact  future  relations  between  these  two  sections  of  the  country.

Organization  &  Communication  of  Ideas

• Excellent
o Information  is  presented  in  a  logical  way  and  there  is  excellent  evidence  of
learning,  creativity,  and  innovation  reflected  in  the  student’s  project.
• Good
o Information  is  mostly  presented  in  a  logical  way,  and  ideas  are
understandable  if  not  fully  developed.
• Fair
o Student(s)  miss  some  of  the  information  requirements.  The  organization  and
the  development  of  ideas  are  not  strong.
• Poor
o Student(s)  miss  most  or  all  of  the  information  requirements.  The
presentation  is  disorganized  and  ideas  are  underdeveloped.

Technical  Elements

• Excellent
o The  video  and  any  included  media  (graphics,  sound,  video,  etc.)  or  student
acting  enhance  the  communication  of  the  content  and  meet  the  project
requirements.
• Good
o The  video  and  any  included  media  (graphics,  sound,  video,  etc.)  or  student
acting  mostly  reinforce  the  communication  of  the  content.  Minor
inconsistencies  in  format  do  not  have  a  significant  impact  on  the
presentation.
• Fair
o The  video  and  any  included  media  (graphics,  sound,  video,  etc.)  have  some
technical  problems.  Student  acting    within  the  movie  is  distractive,  silly,  or
unnecessary.
• Poor
o The  video  and  any  included  media  (graphics,  sound,  video,  etc.)  or  student
acting  has  several  flaws  and  is  not  meaningful  or  not  appropriate.

Synthesis  of  Presentation

• Excellent
o Final  video  is  unique  and  well  designed  (very  informative  as  well  as
engaging)  and  its  content  flows  smoothly  from  beginning  to  end.
• Good
o Final  video  is  well  designed  (informative  and  engaging)  and  its  content  is
mostly  easy  to  follow.
• Fair
o Final  video  is  adequate.  Its  content  delivery  has  some  lapses  in  consistency
and  may  be  confusing.
• Poor
o Final  video  does  not  convey  content.  Content  delivery  is  disorganized  and
difficult  to  comprehend  and/or  understand.
